The Brew: The Real State of the Union

Happy Friday!

How is the State of Your Morning?

Quick Summary of the State of the Union

Wanna know the state of our union? It’s now costing $24 for a burger, fries, and a drink at a Five Guys. That is the state of the union.

Joe Biden started his day yesterday by releasing a video of him chatting with actors who have portrayed a president, including Morgan Freeman, Michael Douglas, Geena Davis, and Independence Day’s Bill Pullman. Though why Pullman didn’t suggest Biden fight dangerous aliens tooth and nail, I don’t know.

Last week, Biden was taking advice from the Cookie Monster. This week, he’s seeking wisdom from imaginary presidents. The problem — aside from the waste of tax dollars and the frivolity of these discussions, given the nation’s real troubles — we cannot be sure that he knew they were imaginary.

That is the state of the Union.

Pro-Life Group Launches New Media Campaign Hours Before SOTU

A major pro-life group launched a new ad campaign hours before the State of the Union address, challenging Biden’s assertion that he defends women. The thirty- and sixty-second spots from Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America accuse the president of harming women with abortion disinformation, as well as targeting the pro-life community’s tangible efforts to help women in need.

The spots praise the work of pregnancy centers and pose a simple question: “Who cares more for pregnant moms — a failing president and his political party, or the nationwide pro-life community that offers on-the-ground financial and physical support, for free, to moms in need?”

The ads are currently scheduled to run on CNN and Fox News in the D.C. market.

SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser called out the once pro-life president for ignoring the abortion supporters’ campaign of violence against pro-life pregnancy centers that has been going on since the downfall of Roe v. Wade.

The pro-life community has and continues to support moms and babies with resources, housing, education, job training, and financial support. This is all despite the Biden administration actively working to undermine and even shut down these same charitable organizations and willfully turning a blind eye to the widespread violence against them.

She noted there have been 88 attacks on pregnancy centers and organizations since May 2022.

Biden’s politicized DOJ has failed to fully investigate and prosecute these senseless acts of violence, instead putting nonviolent pro-life activists in prison for potentially up to 11 years.

That is your state of the Union.

House Passes Laken Riley Act, Strengthening ICE’s Ability to Detain Illegal Immigrants

The House of Representatives just passed the Laken Riley Act, which not only calls on Biden to denounce his administration’s border policies and secure the border, but gives Immigrations and Customs Enforcement greater ability to detain illegal immigrants.

Thirty-seven Democrats voted with Republicans to pass the bill on Thursday, 250-170. The bill is named for Laken Riley, the University of Georgia nursing student who was brutally murdered while she was out for a jog. The suspect, Jose Berra, is an illegal immigrant whom the Biden administration released after he was was arrested for child endangerment in New York, without notifying ICE. Berra may have held the weapon, but Biden’s open-border and sanctuary-cities policies put his signature on Riley’s figurative death warrant.

Riley’s parents declined an invitation to appear at last night’s State of the Union address. However, a seat in the gallery was left empty in their daughter’s honor.

If you missed it Tuesday night, MSNBC talking heads Rachel Maddow and Jen Psaki mocked Virginians’ concerns over illegal immigration. It’s worth noting that Virginia is a state where an illegal immigrant recently raped a 13-year-old girl.

That is the state of our media.
