DC Court of Appeals Rules on Presidential Immunity. Obama May Want to High-Tail It to Cuba

The liberal D.C. Court of Appeals has rejected Donald Trump’s claims that he has immunity from prosecution for actions taken while performing his official duties. This stems from the J6/election interference case when he was still president.

What is raising eyebrows is the Pandora’s Box being opened by the court’s opinion:

For the purposes of this criminal case, former President Trump has become citizen Trump, with all the defenses of any other criminal defendant. But any executive immunity that may have protected him while he served as President no longer protects him against this prosecution.

Sure. The liberal court is going to do all it can to help stop Trump. But if it’s open season on presidents after they leave office for things they did as president, what’s to stop Barack Obama from being charged with gun running for “Fast & Furious”? Manslaughter for any drone strikes that killed Americans without trial? Bill Clinton for … well, name it. Joe Biden for human trafficking? Bribery? Even, as Jack Posobiec suggests, treason for aiding the border invasion?

Trump is promising an appeal to the Supreme Court. Will any past presidents back him for the sake of future presidents? (Looking at you, W.)

School Spends $250,000 on “Woke Kindergarten.” Test Scores Plummet

You hear about that elementary school in the Bay Area that blew $250,000 of your tax dollars on a “Woke Kindergarten” program? Turns out test scores plummeted! Glasswood Elementary in Waywood, California, paid for the “Woke Kindergarten” program out of federal funds designed to help boost academic scores. What a scam. Instead they jammed CRT, oppression, “queer and trans liberation” and other woke tropes down the throats of the students. And the kids got dumber.

According to the Daily Wire:

English and math scores have both declined four percentage points each. Less than 4% of students were proficient in math, and less than 12% of students were proficient in English as of last spring.

Most of the students are low-income. And 80% are Hispanic. In other words, the kind of kids that can’t afford to have progressive activists torpedo their best path out of poverty.

Want to know why voting in school board elections matters? That’s one story. Here’s another.

UPDATE: Drag Queen Hired as Elementary School Principal Resigns

Remember back in September we told you about an elementary school in Oklahoma that had hired a drag queen performer once charged with child porn to be the school’s principal?

Dr. Shane Murnan … who performed and read children’s books to kids under the name Shantel Mandaley … has now resigned as principal of John Glenn Elementary School, effective last Friday.

Libs of TikTok, which brought the drag queen’s hiring to national attention, celebrated the departure as a “big win for students of Oklahoma.”

Superintendent Ryan Walters, who led the fight to keep Murnan … uh, Shantel .. away from school kids also expressed his pleasure.

UPDATE: Senate Immigration Bill Collapsing?

House Speaker Mike Johnson said Monday the Senate “Border” Bill was “Dead on arrival” in the House. He was premature. The thing may be dead before even getting to the House. Signs are growing that the “bipartisan” bill negotiated in secret maybe already be doomed in the Senate. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell reportedly urged Republican Senators to vote against it if they didn’t like the direction the bill had taken. Even the Republican negotiator on the bill Sen. James Langford said he might vote against moving forward with the bill if his colleagues aren’t on board. McConnell had a cloture vote planned for today. It’ll take 60 votes to move the bill forward.

John Zmirak offers his take on Langford and the bill with “Poor Sen. Langford, Trapped in the Witch’s Castle in Frozen Narnia, His Face Smeared With Turkish Delight.

Meanwhile in today’s edition of “Stump the Band,” and by “band” we mean White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre:

UPDATE: Cancel Culture Getting Cancelled? Shane Gillis Returning to Host SNL

Last week, we told you that comedian Shane Gillis had been hired by Bud Light for a new campaign. The hiring came four years after Gillis was fired by Saturday Night Live before even getting a chance to appear on the show after the cancer culture vultures plucked some offensive comments from his past. Well, the canceling of cancel culture continues. Gillis will now be hosting SNL on February 24. NBC made the announcement Monday.

That might be a Saturday Night Live worth watching … a sentence rarely heard anymore.

Fighting Back Against Cancel Culture: Mandalorian Actress Sues Disney for Defamation and Wrongful Termination

Actress Gina Carano announced Tuesday that she is suing Disney and Lucasfilm. Carano regularly challenged woke beliefs and COVID dogma on social media, and that got her canned in 2021 from the Star Wars series The Mandalorian. Not only did Lucasfilm boot her, they trashed her on the way out the door. “Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm & there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural & religious identities are abhorrent & unacceptable.”

“Nothing could be further from the truth,” Carano said in a long post on X. She’s now suing for wrongful termination and defamation, and has Elon Musk. The owner of X had said he’d foot the legal bills for anyone who can show he was canceled because of posts on the social media site. X is helping foot Carano’s legal bills.

She is asking Lucasfilm to recast her, pay her at least $75,000, plus punitive damages.

Toby Keith: Thank You, From the Red, White and Blue

America awakened to the news Tuesday morning that country star Toby Keith had lost his battle with stomach cancer. He was 62. Though he had a string of massive hits, including the romantic revenge song “How Do You Like Me Now?” and “Should Have Been a Cowboy,” it’s “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue” that immediately springs to mind. In the horrible days after 9/11, artists tried to grapple with the terrorist attacks. Fellow country star Alan Jackson went with the heartbreaking reflection, “Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning.” Toby countered with a full-throated summoning of the American fighting spirit.

Oh, sure, he had to listen to all sorts of criticism from the left accusing him of militaristic jingoism. But while Jackson helped get us to our knees, Keith helped get us off the mat. In those traumatic days, we needed both.

Keith would go onto put his money where his mouth was, doing countless shows for our troops, raising millions for vets.

As he goes to his rest, let’s offer a moment of prayer for the family, friends and fans of Toby Keith. And once again be stirred with pride for “The American Way.”
