Military Cancels Drag Queen Event for Kids After Heat From Rep. Matt Gaetz

A “child friendly” drag show that had been scheduled for Thursday at Nellis AFB in Nevada was cancelled. Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz is taking credit.

“Consistent with Secretary Austin’s congressional testimony, drag events will not be hosted at military installations or facilities,” a DoD official said. “Hosting these types of events in federally-funded facilities is not a suitable use of DOD resources.” Yet despite the Lloyd Austin’s March testimony, the event had been scheduled. Privately funded, with no tax dollars, according to one of the scheduled performers, but on the schedule nonetheless, on a military base … and open to children.

Perhaps the Pentagon should spend less time catering to drag queens and more time keeping track of its sophisticated weapons.

Report: Weapons Systems Sent to Ukraine Bought by Mexico’s Cartel Del Golfo

Anti-tank weapons like those shipped to Ukraine have ended up bought by Mexico’s Cartel Del Golfo (CDG), according to a report on Mexican TV.

A video shows a Gulf Cartel member brandishing what appears to be a U.S.-made FGM-148 anti-tank Javelin missile launcher. We’ve sent Ukraine some 10,000 Javelins. Military experts examining the footage suggest it may be the Swedish AT-4, another anti-tank weapon we have been supplying Ukraine.

Russia has long claimed weapons sent to Ukraine were being sold on the black market to terrorists and other bad guys throughout the world. But those claims were dismissed as propaganda.

Please Support The Stream: Equipping Christians to Think Clearly About the Political, Economic, and Moral Issues of Our Day.

Put aside the real possibility that those weapons in the hands of deadly drug cartels originally came from our stockpiles. (It wouldn’t be the first time. See “Fast and Furious.”) The fact is this cartel that operates just across the river from Brownsville, Texas, is sporting anti-tank weapons.

But let’s keep that border open so CDG can make more millions in trafficking to buy even more … and more powerful … weapons.

FBI Director Admits Form Exists Pointing to Biden “Bribery Scheme,” But Won’t Hand It Over to Congress (UPDATE: He’s Changed His Mind)

Major Update: Rep. James Comer announced Friday morning that Wray has relented in the face of the contempt threat and will bring the document over to House Oversight Committee for examination on Monday. (If I were Wray I’d make sure my security detail checked his car for tampering.)

FBI Director Christopher Wray admitted an FBI Confidential Human Source Form does exist detailing a “criminal bribery scheme” directly involving Joe Biden while VP. But he’s not willing to hand it over to Congress. House Oversight Committee chair James Comer says Wray did offer to let investigating members see the document at FBI headquarters. However, “we have been clear that anything short of producing these documents to the House Oversight Committee is not in compliance with the subpoena.”

Comer is threatening bringing Wray up on contempt of Congress charges. Congress became aware of the form thanks to an FBI whistleblower.

Trump: Let’s Have a Year-Long Celebration of Our 250th Birthday!

On July 4, 2026, the United States will celebrate the 250th anniversary of its birth. A big deal, right? Or at least it should be. Donald Trump wants the country to throw a year-long party. He said in a Truth Social video that on day one as president, he’ll create a “Salute to America 250” task force. (You’d think we’d already have one of those.)

The commemoration would kick off Memorial Day 2025 and last to Independence Day, 2026. “We should be preparing for a most spectacular birthday party. We want to make it the best of all time.”

Who doesn’t love a party? But Trump’s proposal does point to the question: How will we commemorate the anniversary of America’s founding? Will it be a celebration? Or a dirge? A dreary recitation of America’s sins?

The 2024 election will determine that. Are July 4th, 1776, and our Declaration of Independence things to be cherished? Or to be trashed?

Do we still believe that we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights? Or are we a racist society endowed by slave labor with certain ill-gotten gains?

What do you want to see? Cheers and tall ships? Or jeers and talk of slave ships?
