The AMA Plunges Down the Slippery, Gadarene Slope: No Gender on Birth Certificates

By Nolan Lewallen Published on August 11, 2021

The most fundamental attribute of humanity is that God created both man and woman. Now, this most sacred and profound distinction is under assault by our dominant Woke radicals. They love diversity in theory. Not so much in practice.

On August 2, the American Medical Association announced that it will lobby to get the biological sex of an individual removed from the public part of birth certificates. The organization bloviates:

Designating sex on birth certificates as male or female, and making that information available on the public portion, perpetuates a view that sex designation is permanent and fails to recognize the medical spectrum of gender identity.

The Clay Rejecting the Potter

Yep, it’s permanent, alright, no matter what extreme measures one takes to change that. Romans 9:20-21: “But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, ‘Why have you made me like this?’ Does not the potter have power over the clay?”

Consider Caitlyn Jenner, the most high-profile “trans” individual. Jenner seems like a very likeable person, and what’s not to love about an Olympian? A gold medalist, in fact. If our paths ever cross, I will treat him with the utmost of respect. Moreover, I will go along with the legal name change. A lot of people do that. I’ve personally known some men who had feminine-sounding names, and let’s not forget about Johnny Cash’s “A Boy Named Sue.” So, I don’t have a problem with that.

But I will never refer to him as her. That’s where I draw the line. I will not accommodate his confusion about his existence. God created him a man, he is still a man, and he will always be a man as long as he is on this earth.

The Divine Physician

It’s interesting that the AMA’s logo depicts its mission of healing by a serpent on a pole and is right out of the Bible (Numbers 21:8). In John 3:14, Jesus confirmed that was a type and shadow of Him being lifted up on the cross. Of course,  you will never hear the organization acknowledging a biblical reference. They attribute it to the staff of Asclepius, the ancient Greek “god of medicine,” who is often depicted with a staff with a serpent wrapped around it.

But which came first, the “chicken” of Numbers 21 or the “egg” of Asclepius? Moses put the serpent on the pole in the wilderness almost a millennium before Asclepius (allegedly) lived. I have to believe in the early days of the AMA, when they developed the logo, someone on the board was a student of the Bible. If so, they have certainly veered a long way from their roots.

A Hypocritical Oath

The medical industry has even abandoned the Hippocratic Oath for the most part. This oath, that all medical students once took, was considered the gold-standard of ethical standards in medicine. In part, it reads, “I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect. Similarly, I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy. In purity and holiness I will guard my life and my art.”

By 1989, a survey of 126 U.S. medical schools showed that only three reported use of the original oath. It had to be trimmed to accommodate doctors’ new mission in our Culture of Death. By 1993, only 14% of modern medical oaths prohibited euthanasia, and only 8% prohibited abortion. Most modern oaths have even abandoned the prohibition of sexual relations between a physician and patient.

So, as world-class athletes from all over the world are competing in the Tokyo Olympics, it seems there’s an “Olympics of Stupidity” going on in our country. Each week, they seem to be trying to outdo the stupidity from the week before. This in the industry that we most need to stick to science and the facts.

Harvard Misreads Orwell

A Woke doctoral student at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health recently wrote, “2+2 can equal 5, and to say it equals 4 is an abstraction. What that means is they’re generalizations of something. You should always think of these statements as associated with an underlying reality. As a data analyst, I love numbers but it’s my job to connect them to reality.”

On the school’s website, it claims, “Today, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health brings together dedicated experts from many disciplines to educate new generations of global health leaders and produce powerful ideas that improve the lives and health of people everywhere.” So, 2 + 2 = 5 is one of those “powerful ideas” that will improve our lives? It didn’t in Orwell’s 1984, where it symbolized the power of elites to force their ideas on everyone.

When are we, as Christians, going to draw the line? We’ve become like the proverbial “frog in gradually heated water” analogy. Our elites have abandoned all wisdom (if they ever had any), and “Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding” (Proverbs 4:7). We must rise up with the voices of wisdom, or there will be no end to this lunacy.

35,000 feet With Thunderstorms . . . But At Least They’re Woke

Alaska Airlines recently announced it is implementing new gender-neutral uniforms and hair policies. Lufthansa is ditching expressions like “Ladies and gentlemen” during onboard announcements. Maybe from now on, when we fly, we should just take a seat in First-Class and insist we “identify as First-Class passengers.”

A decade ago, the New NIV Bible dropped the “he” or “him” pronoun references to unspecified persons in scripture. What’s next . . . dropping the male references to God Himself?

A Boatload of Truth

And while we’re on the subject of the Bible, isn’t it remarkable that the LGBTQ community has tried to hijack the rainbow as its symbol, plucked from the story of Noah’s ark? That’s the greatest heterosexual story ever.

Don’t think so? But God told Noah, “You shall take with you seven each of every clean animal, a male and his female; two each of animals that are unclean, a male and his female; also seven each of birds of the air, male and female, to keep the species alive on the face of all the earth” (Genesis 7:2-3). (Italics added.)

Noah, along with his three sons and their wives boarded the ark. If Noah’s sons would have entered the ark with “husbands,” the human race would have become extinct. And I don’t want to “rain on anyone’s parade,” but when I see a beautiful rainbow, I don’t think of sins against nature. I think of God’s amazing promise that He would never flood the earth again (Genesis 9:11).

A Slippery Slope

What’s next? Will we be debating on identifying as and marrying animals? Bestiality is actually legal in the U.S. in five states and the District of Columbia. And what would be after animals, marrying inanimate objects? If Tom Hanks’ character (Chuck Noland) in the movie Cast Away had not gotten off that island, perhaps he would have eventually married “Wilson,” the volleyball. Forgive me for being facetious, but do you see how insane this could get?

And it doesn’t stop with gender. In 2018, a sixty-nine-year-old Dutchman began a legal battle to change his age to twenty years younger on the grounds that he is being discriminated against on a dating app.

I believe it’s time we Christians jump out of the “boiling water” and let our voices be heard on foundational truths like the two sexes of humankind. We can’t allow this most sacred part of God’s creation to be “cancelled” by the ignorance of a few radical zealots. The apostle Paul even used two sexes in marriage to symbolize the “mystery” of the relationship of Christ and the church (Eph. 5:22-24). Of course, that’s precisely what our Enemy wishes to disrupt and destroy.
