RAWLINS — A young woman who was allegedly the victim of human trafficking mouthed the words “help me” to a Wyoming Highway Patrol officer last week at the Shell station in Walcott Junction, resulting in the arrest of a California couple.

Lester Tucker, 38, of Oakland, Calif., and Janice Scott, 27, of Modesto, Calif., have both been charged with first degree human trafficking, and conspiracy to commit human trafficking “for the purpose of sexual servitude,” charging information stated.

Tucker is being held in the Carbon County Jail on $250,000 cash bond; bond has been set for Scott $100,000 cash. The two face up to 50 years in prison if convicted.

A preliminary court hearing is scheduled for the couple for Jan. 20.
