Trump Responds to Video Alleging Google Manipulates Searches to be Pro-Hillary

By Published on June 11, 2016

Donald Trump responded Friday to the viral video that claimed “Google has been actively altering search recommendations in favor of Hillary Clinton’s campaign.”

Trump told Business Insider, “If this is true, it is a disgrace that Google would do that,” and called it “Very, very dishonest.”

“They should let it float and allow people [to] see how crooked she really is,” he continued.

The video found that when the phrase “Hillary Clinton Cri” is searched in Google, three results appear: “Hillary Clinton crime reform,” “Hillary Clinton crisis,” and “Hillary Clinton crime bill of 1994.”

When the same phrase is searched in Bing or Yahoo, results such as “Hillary Clinton criminal charges” and “Hillary Clinton criminal” appear. SourceFed, the outlet that produced the video, points out that the different results “focused on whether or not Hillary Clinton has ever committed a crime.”

SourceFed claimed it “discovered that Google has been actively altering search recommendations in favor of Hillary Clinton’s campaign.”

Google officials hit back at the claims Thursday, according to The Washington Times:

Google Autocomplete does not favor any candidate or cause. Claims to the contrary simply misunderstand how Autocomplete works. Our Autocomplete algorithm will not show a predicted query that is offensive or disparaging when displayed in conjunction with a person’s name. More generally, our autocomplete predictions are produced based on a number of factors including the popularity of search terms.

Fox News reported Friday Google searches have connected Trump to Adolf Hitler on multiple occasions.
