USS Tripoli Deck, 19 August 1968

The Shores of Tripoli: Pilots of Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 165 [HMM-165] take a literal meaning of that line from the famed Marine Corps hymn as they land aboard the deck of the helicopter aircraft carrier, USS Tripoli, off the coast of South Vietnam. Chopper squadrons of the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing [1st MAW] operate on a rotating basis off the carrier (official USMC photo by Sergeant Joe Bradley).
