Is Today’s Far Left ‘Possessed’?

By John Zmirak Published on June 18, 2017

During the primaries it was all the rage among some conservative pundits to cite the 2006 comedy Idiocracy as prescient of the election. The joke was on Trump supporters, who supposedly were as clueless as the characters in that movie. Some of those Tweets were funny, if mean.

But recent months have spoiled the humor. Between the relentless efforts by Deep State actors to sabotage a presidency, and the rising frenzy of hatred that has burst forth from the left, one thing is clear. We’ve stumbled from farce to the blackest kind of satire, the kind that bleeds over sometimes into the tragic. We’re not living out Idiocracy. Instead we’re re-enacting Dostoevsky’s The Possessed.

For those of you who didn’t work as night doormen in college, reading Russian lit in a polyester uniform, here’s what happens in that novel: A band of youthful “nihilists” emerge in a sleepy provincial town. They have no positive program for reform, or even revolution. Instead, they focus solely on tearing down what’s around them — everything from the family to the church, from private property to linear modes of rational thought. They’ve decided that the world as it really exists is so hopelessly tainted and evil, that only “pure” destruction can offer the clean slate needed to start again.

The attack on the U.S. Congress reminds us that Dostoevsky was right. People don’t rant on and on about “resistance” and revolution without any consequences.

Those who oppose them are hapless, clueless, frightened or confused. Both conservatives and old-fashioned liberals resort to denial. They can’t face the truth of how their young people have turned out, can’t admit that when “idealists” call for annihilating paroxysms of violence, they really mean it. So the defenders of the old order do nothing. They make little concessions, which only feeds the beast. They lie to themselves, to get just one more good night’s sleep. Surely these young people will come to their senses before it’s too late… . Won’t they?

Dostoevsky Saw 2017 Coming

In Europe today, elites are taking just this approach to radical Islam. Surely there really can’t be millions of people living in Western countries who yearn for a seventh-century theocracy, along the lines of ISIS or Saudi Arabia. Who wish to repay the hospitality of secular Swedes, Germans, and Frenchmen by imposing sharia on them. Only some hateful Western extremist would say such a thing. Best to silence those “intolerant” alarmists, and go back to getting some rest in your tasteful, climate-controlled and peacefully childless house.

We are not dealing finally with bad ideas, but evil spirits.

The attack on the U.S. Congress reminds us that Dostoevsky was right. People don’t rant on and on about “resistance” and revolution without any consequences. Without provoking real violence, which can escalate very quickly. Remember that Lebanon, Yugoslavia, and Venezuela were each once peaceful vacation spots. Citizens couldn’t imagine how bad things might really get. Until it hit them square in the face.

We must prepare ourselves, especially spiritually. Because multiculturalism really has morphed into a kind of cult. Andrew Sullivan laid out its elaborate system of dogmas and stigmas. It has no positive aim, no set of demands that we could ever possibly meet. No surrender will be sufficient.

For Souls, It’s a Buyer’s Market

In Britain, former Liberal Democratic leader Tim Farron learned that. An evangelical Christian in his private life, he tried to hold onto his position in politics by embracing legal abortion and same-sex marriage. It didn’t matter. The fact that in the quiet of his heart he might know better, might still hold to Christian principles, was absolutely intolerable. And so even after those sellouts, Farron was forced to resign. The lesson: Don’t bother trying to sell your soul. The market’s so flooded with them, it has run down the price to zero.

What spirit is it that demands at the same time that the British public accept millions of prescriptively intolerant orthodox Muslims, whose leaders demand sharia — but won’t let a pro-choice, pro-gay politician privately cling to Christian precepts? It’s the spirit of pure destruction, straight out of The Possessed.

The same spirit goads the comfortable, middle class white kids who put on hoods to help Antifa swing metal poles at visiting scholars. It drives some Jesuit priests to deny that Satan really exists — and then to go on to demonize those who dare to disagree. It compels the same people who think that “meat is murder” to defend Planned Parenthood, when it sells baby parts in buckets like KFC.

Pray for the Maniacs

We’re not just dealing with bad ideas, but evil spirits. Nor are you and I immune to their attractions. They will tempt us to cruelty, callousness, and fantasies of vengeance. They will drive us to treat our fellow men as if they were demons. But they aren’t. They are those demons’ victims — as surely as some drug-addled or psychotic hobo who screams at us in the park. (Where I live, this happens to me, late at night.)

When you meet such a scary homeless person, do you hate him? Should you? You might need to rouse some anger, in case you need to defend yourself. But on a deeper level, you know that he’s not in control. That his mind is no longer his own. Maybe you can’t help lure him back to sanity or sobriety. You might need to call the cops. But you feel that deep human kinship with him we should all feel as children of God.

Just so, we must look at the people now drunk with demonstrable madness, at intellectuals who hate reason, professors who silence discussion, and students who spit on learning. We must face them down firmly. We must use the ordered force of law to protect ourselves and our institutions. But we can’t let them tempt us into sharing their spiritual disorder. They must be rebuked and restrained. But they also deserve our pity. Something deep inside them even hungers for our prayers.

Spot on, John, again. I’ve been saying since the early 1990s that Bill and Hillary Clinton have demonic support; there is no other reasonable explanation for their continued power. Truth be told, the dragon’s coils are wrapped so tightly around our culture, our government, and sometimes even us, that only God can save us. Of course, he is the only one who ever could.

    • PoliticallyIncorrect2

Spot on! I’ve been thinking that for years…. that demonic support is really the only explanation for evil to continue and get away with the shocking level of power such as we’ve seen lately. But especially ever since Obama usurped the Presidency. I think he opened the very gates of hell or something.

  • Patmos

When you aren’t filled with The Holy Spirit, it opens the door for all other types of foul spirits. If you don’t believe me, believe the prophet who was to come, and did come:

“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.”

  • Howard Rosenbaum

Right. However I would take exception to the word “possessed” in regard to the manifested malignancy materializing before our eyes. The Gadarene madman w/his legion of demons by most accounts still tops any activity of the demonic variety promoted by the MSM & company. What the left may be experiencing would seem to be the consequences of their snuggling up to an ideology antagonistic to biblical thought & the subsequent unorthodox behavior that corresponds to it. They are themselves responsible for the sometimes incomprehensible ranting & raving that pours out of their darkened hearts. They, in spite of what seems to be self delusion of a high order still have a choice in the matter. Their will is still intact. Perhaps rather than the word possession to categorize their moral & ethical compromises , the word obsession should be substituted. These guys clearly are obsessed w/their agenda. It’s become more than political. It’s become something of a personal crusade for the likes of a Ms Waters for example & those who have swallowed her rhetoric . These folk know what they’re doing. They have their political strategy all mapped out as they hope & plan for the upcoming midterm elections. Yet, in spite of their contrived logic ,calculated misrepresentations, false accusations & deliberate lies regarding all things Trump, there is, I perceive a demonic element involved somewhat beyond their grasp. The functional capacity of their soul has been damaged. They, as scripture references have had their consciences seared as w/a hot iron. Their minds have been darkened by their intolerance & an invitation to the hordes of previously unemployed demons has been sent out as if by special delivery. Yeah, there are some unannounced guests that have shown up at the (democrat) party. Problem is the party goers are too drunk on spirits to know what has become of their full senses ….

    • Dean Bruckner

“Demonized” is more correct than either “possessed” or “obsessed.” But yes, there are degrees of demonic involvement, control and habitation.

      • Howard Rosenbaum

I considered employing the word oppressed to characterize the “cloud” that seems to have overshadowed many on the left w/a spirit of delusion. However
the imagery suggested by the word obsessed seems to paint a more descriptive illustration of the “demonization” seemingly prevalent in the party of resistance. Demonology aside, whichever characterization you prefer, we both agree this recent phenomena which has taken over the MSM is clearly more than meets the eye …

      • Hmmm…

Regardless; it’s best to resist them and have them flee. Don’t want them around; they’re not pets, you know …

    • Vincent J.

God gave them over to a depraved mind.

Romans 1:28-32 (NIV) Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

  • Charles Burge

My wife and I were just discussing this the other day. The people in power notwithstanding, most young leftists (university students and some others) are the useful idiots of the leftist movement, and are not the true enemy. They may mean well, but they have been deceived, and therefore know not what they do. If their eyes could be opened, the leftist movement would be robbed of its infantry. This is a spiritual war, and praying for our nation’s young people should be part of our strategy.

    • Faith of Our Fathers

Sorry Charles I agree with you that our greatest enemy is not Flesh and Blood but his Disciples know what they do especially the ones ( and there are many) who have sold their souls to the Evil One . I agree with you wholeheartedly that this is a Spiritual War –. Saint Michael The Archangel Defend us in the day of Battle. Be our safeguard against the Wickedness and Snares of The Devil .

  • Kevin Quillen

Demons???? Really???? And we wonder why Christianity is not respected!
    Wow, just wow.

The only “devil” and “demons” around today are in your head.

    • ardenjm

You know, I’d suggest your commimtment to universal salvation is at the root of this scepticism about the existence of demons. And eventually it will – like all universal solvents – dissolve away Christ Himself – just as it has dissolved away the devil in your belief system:

“I saw Satan himself fall like ligntning from the sky.”
      Our Lord got it wrong?

      Mind how you go.

      • Kevin Quillen

Jesus defeated the devil at the cross and the devil was thrown into the lake of fire 2000 years ago. You need a paradigm shift to see that Bible prophecies were ALL fulfilled at the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 A.D.. We are now in the eternal state and we believers are the New Jerusalem. Christ is the cornerstone, we are the living stones and pillars in the temple of God.

        • ardenjm

Uh huh? So there is no more dying suffering and tears then, is there? The Heavenly Jerusalem 1200 cubits long, high and wide has come down from Heaven, has it? Our Lord has returned in glory, has He?

Goodness me. This is what happens when Martin Luther’s rejection of the Church’s Magisterium trickles down to all and sundry: the craziest personal interpretations are given credence.

But not by me. Sorry. I’ll stick with the faith of the Church – not with your personal interpretation.

          • Kevin Quillen

do you seriously believe that a city will come down from space? Preterism is the explanation you need. Look in J N Darby also to learn where some of this silly eschatology came from. WE are the CITY! Christians. Living stones, pillars. Jesus is the cornerstone.

          • ter ber

Darby was wrong. Pre trib is wrong. But that doesn’t make preterism right.

          • Kevin Quillen

you are right, those two facts do not make Preterism right. But it is. It is the ONLY theological position in which ALL the Bible verses fit. No need to ignore some or twist some.

          • ardenjm

So: Do I believe in the descent from Heaven of a Heavenly Jerusalem? I have no idea. The Book of Revelation is notoriously difficult to interpret and, to my knowledge, the Church’s magisterium hasn’t canonised any particular interpretation of that passage. I quite like the idea of a cuboid city 1200 miles high, though, if only for the WOW factor. Still, I’m not going to argue about it with you. Likewise for your interpretation of us being the members of that city – well, Revelation is pretty clear about that anyway, as are most of the Fathers of the Church down the centuries and I think it’s been a long-accepted understanding.
But of course the key issue is this: Do you, Kevin Quillen, have in yourself, magisterial authority? No, you do not. So little wonder you get some things right and a lot of things wrong.
That’s one of the many reasons I’m a Catholic.
And, just to forestall any useless, fruitless and futile discussion: You’ll not convince me you’re right because you are neither Catholic nor docile to the Church’s Tradition and Magisterium which I believe to be consistent with the Deposit of the Faith made by Our Lord and interpreted under the infallible guidance of the Holy Spirit as promised in John chapters 14-16. So, until you convert, become a priest, then a Bishop (with, therefore magisterial teaching authority) in union with the Tradition of the Church (because, alas, Sign of the Times, there are a lot of heterodox Catholic bishops out there right now) then, in truth, I’ll just scan over what you say and pray for the Holy Spirit to overcome your invincible ignorance.

            Mind how you go.

          • Kevin Quillen

why do you rely on someone to tell you what scripture means? You might want to read Jer 31 verses 31 through 37. Since we now have Bibles of our own we need NO teacher accept Holy Spirit. Pay particular attention to verses 33 and 34. On the day that you stand before your Lord you will face Him alone. Your Pope or Priest will not be with you for your defense. YOU must dig out the truth. It is fascinating to do deep study. You speak of tradition. Please take the time to look up the Greek for “elements” in 2 Pet 3:10 and 12 and Gal 4:3 and 9. May the Holy Spirit guide you and enlighten you. God Bless you.

        • ter ber

Oh great another preterist believing Satan’s lies.

          • Kevin Quillen

have you researched Preterism? Or just parroting what some pastor said, as most do who are critical.

          • ter ber

Yes, I have researched it, had 2 dear acquaintances caught up in it.

          • Kevin Quillen

can you explain Matt 16:28? Can you tell me why the great commission was not fulfilled in light of Col 1:6 and 23, Rom 1:8, and 1 Thess 1:8? Can you explain Matt 10:23? Can you tell me what Hymenaeus and Philetus were teaching that overthrew the faith of many? Do you realize that in the well known “rapture” verse 1 Thess 4:17, the word “air” does NOT mean the air above us? Do you realize that the word “elements” in 2 Pet 3:10 and 12 have NOTHING to do with the earth? It is the same word used in Gal 4:3 and 9. If dispensationalists are correct then what could the meaning of 1 Jn 2:18 possibly be? “Last hour”? It would be totally meaningless. How about 1 Cor 7:29 and 31? What was meant by “time is short” and the “form of this world is passing away? Only Preterism makes sense of these verses. Finally explain Matt 24:34. What generation?

          • Kevin Quillen

            crickets

        • Nomasidiotas

People either forget or do not understand the Ascension, following Christ’s work on the cross, and what the Ascension did. They misunderstand Matthew 24, at least in the US, by a misinterpretation of doctrine that is only about 100 years old.

          • Kevin Quillen

            thanks to Darby and Scofield?

          • Nomasidiotas

In large part, as the gross misinterpretation of scripture of the modern era began with them.

          • Kevin Quillen

and J N Darby and the Plymouth Brethren in the 1840’s and the inclusion of Darby’s nonsense in the notes of the Scofield Bible.

          • Nomasidiotas

And Azusa Street was one of the epicenters on the west coast of these false doctrines. The whole lie has so permeated American religious culture and popular culture. Most people don’t know how bizarre mainstream American Christian beliefs are to the rest of the Christian world. They sincerely believe it is normal, right and true. Many mainstream believers have absolutely no idea. Their churches are led by pastors who have known only these misinterpretations, and well meaning Christians have never understood prophesy because they go with what they’re used to and what is reinforced by the culture. They love God and they want to please Him. It is really sad.

          • Kevin Quillen

you are correct. It is sad indeed. The reputation of our Lord is on the line.

        • Vincent J.

Nonsense. What about Jesus’ prophecy that not one stone will be left upon another? Have you ever heard of the wailing wall? That wall is composed of many stone layers, which were part of the temple complex of Jesus’ time in a mortal body.

    • Jim Walker

The only “devil” and “demons” around today are in your head.

So you do believe there are demons and devil ?

      • Kevin Quillen

Devil was cast into the lake of fire almost 2000 years ago. The only “devil” today is the “old man” inside you. Jesus turned and said to Peter, “get thee behind me satan”. Was Peter possessed? No, he was just letting his natural man speak.

        • Jim Walker

Now this is really the WOW ! Where did you learn this ? Isn’t it time to release the devil ? Its 2 millennials already.

          • Kevin Quillen

you need a paradigm shift in your theology. Research Preterism.

          • Jim Walker

Why are men still evil when you are so sure Jesus returned ?
Where is He now ? Why didn’t he restore mankind with perfect immortal bodies? We are still dying by 120 years max.
How can a world be the same as it were in the days of Noah with Christ return ? and that was 2000 years ago mind you. If this is what your Jesus promised, I don’t want any part of it.

          • Kevin Quillen

Jesus said that the kingdom of God was within you and among you. Also, it comes not with observation. We are in it now. We are pillars in the temple and living stones. 1 Pet 2:5 and Rev 3:12

          • Kevin Quillen

do you realize that the great commission was fulfilled in the first century? Col 1:6 & 23 Rom 1:8 1 Thess 1:8. This means that the requirements was met for the end to come and for Jesus to return. That is exactly what happened.

          • Jim Walker

Kevin, you not answering my questions. Why are not in our immortal bodies? We were promised that when Jesus returns, all true Christians will be heirs of God in paradise. This sure ain’t paradise.

          • Kevin Quillen

you have a faulty view of the resurrection. See my comment above concerning 2 Tim 2:17 and 18

          • Jim Walker

So you believed “Hymenaeus and Philetus” ?

          • Kevin Quillen

H and P taught that the resurrection had already occurred. Paul corrected them on the timing. Think about this…..if the current view of the resurrection is true, how could I fool anyone by telling them it had already happened? They would simply look at the graveyard and see that I was wrong. Get it? IMPOSSIBLE to fool them! But, because the resurrection WAS an event that could not be seen with the eyes, the people COULD be fooled and were. Graves are NOT going to literally burst open and bodies arise as is commonly taught. Think about it. We are NOT going to fly up through the air in a rapture. Look up the Greek word use for “air” in 1 Thess 4:17. It is Strong’s #109. You will be surprised.

          • Vincent J.

OK, I entered “preterism” into my address bar, and Wickipedia came up as the first entry. blah, blah, blah ……. all prophecies have been fulfilled ….. I’ve seen that viewpoint expressed before, but now I know that it has a name: preterism. My response is that Jesus prophesied that not one stone of the temple complex will be left upon another. Today’s wailing wall was a part of that temple complex, yet there it stands, many stones upon many other stones.

          • Kevin Quillen

you are easily convinced. try “studying” Preterism for yourself. The wailing wall was not part of the temple.

        • Nels

A heretic troll! Back to your bridge over the lake of fire, foul creature.

          • Kevin Quillen

yes, I am a heretic, according to the definition. I do not believe as most do. That does not make me wrong, only different. I am in good company. Jesus was a heretic to the people of His day, as was Paul and all the apostles. I challenge you to take a serious look at Preterism and Christian Universalism. Most of the modern church has bought into ridiculous theology that is very easy to refute. One quick example to get you started. Do you realize that “the great commission was complete in the first century? See Col 1:6 and 23, Romans 1:8 and there are others. If this is true(and it is) then the condition was met for Jesus to return in the first century.(He did). Why do you think that Caiaphas the high priest in Matt 26 declared that Jesus had committed blasphemy when He said that the Sanhedrin would see Jesus “coming on the clouds of Heaven? Research what “coming on the clouds” means in the Old Testament.

        • Pam Delaney

If the Devil was cast into the lake of fire, then someone pulled him back out. Please reread those passages again, because if evil has been done away with then this good really sucks.

          • Kevin Quillen

            evil is done by man.

          • Jim Walker

If the devil is in the lake of fire, and Christ already returned some 2,000 years ago (and where is He now may I ask?), I’d say we should be living righteous lives and sin has already left our bodies, there will be no pedophiles, no LGBT issue, no war, no different religion, no pain, sorrow etc etc. I don’t see that happening around me. I see the prophecies fulfilling and the world now is like the days of Noah.

          • Kevin Quillen

Isa 65:20 notice sinner. Where and when is this?

          • Vincent J.

Well, it hasn’t happened yet, therefore it must be in the future. Conclusion: preterism is wrong.

          • Pam Delaney

Iraneus was a disciple of Polycarp who was a disciple of John who wrote Revelation. Iraneus said that Polycarp told him that the book was written in the days go and of Dometian who left office around 95 or 96 AD and that’s when all the exiles that were under religious persecution by Dometian were released. That’s when John the Revelator was released. He then returned to deliver his messages to the seven churches of Asia.

          • Kevin Quillen

the early date for Revelation is accurate, probably in 66 or 67 AD. Research it, it is quite interesting.

        • ter ber

Satan entered Peter for a moment. Just as Satan spoke to Our Lord during His 40 day fast, and offered Him the kingdoms of this world. He offered them, because they were HIS to offer.
You are not rightly dividing God’s Word.

          • Kevin Quillen

proof of satan entering Peter? There is none, just speculation.
            And ridiculous speculation at that.

        • Hmmm…

He was speaking under the influence of a devil. Jesus doesn’t mis-use words. He is accurate.

          • Kevin Quillen

you need to come to an understanding of the covenantal shift that took place in 70 A.D.. All Bible prophecies were fulfilled in the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple. Christ returned, the old covenant ended and the new came fully. We are in the eternal state now. No “end of the world”, Armageddon, second coming, 1000 year reign, no rapture etc.. Research Preterism.

          • Jim Walker

Christ returned ? He told his disciples he will “return”. Can you advise which Bible verse indicated He returned ? What book did you read Kevin ?

If he has returned, then John’s Book of Revelation is just fiction, was he hallucinating ? No 1000 year reign ?

          • Kevin Quillen

Matt 26:64. Caiaphas knew what Jesus meant. Research it.

          • Hmmm…

That is error, debunked, a doctrine of devils sent to deceive and lead astray. It disagrees with many other scriptures than the one taken out of context. I caution you against Peterism and such nonscriptural teachings.

    • Nordog6561

      Good luck with that.

    • Darren

But a man who says he’s a woman is considered courageous for “coming out”. That’s not all in one’s head? That’s not psychologically disordered?

      Explain then your faith?

Christianity, specifically Catholicism, has a two thousand year history with Judaism as it’s roots.

Don’t respect that Jesus Christ is God? Don’t respect He drive out demons?

What about possessions? Look up the one recently in Gary, IN. A cop even saw the events there.

The devil wants you to not believe in him. He doesn’t want you to be with a God and he’ll do everything in his power to prevent you from going back to your maker.

I suggest reading a little GK Chesterton or CS Lewis or Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen.

If there’s a reason why Christianity isn’t respected its because of all the factions claiming Christianity.

Divide and conquer. The basics of war. And it’s a spiritual war and the devil is dividing and seems to be conquering. But Jesus prayed at the cross “that they may be one as He and His Heavenly Father is One.

St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us.

      • Faith of Our Fathers

Darren your as well posting to a wall these people don’t listen even the Ninevites listened to Jonah. I believe that all of us in this life who reach adulthood must get a message from God Jesus The Holy Spirit. For the special ones of us who have been in the Liferaft and have been saved probably both Physically Spiritually and Mentally know how fortunate we are take hold of the tools available and believe. For the rest who just think it’s life and co-incidence and no God among them be it . That includes Popes Priests Ministers Teachers Billionaires Millionaires and us so called normal people. Oh my, you are clever!

    • Hmmm…

They thrive on your ignorance. You’ve played right into their device.

    • Cindy Pacheco

Sorry, but the devil is real.

    • Nordog6561

      >>And we wonder why Christianity is not respected!<<

      • Kevin Quillen

Christianity changed the world and was respected when the truth was taught. Christianity is why you have freedoms. But the ultimate freedom is in Christ.
Ask Him to come to you, He will.

        • Nordog6561

Yeah, you know Christianity’s role in the world the way Bill Clinton knows fidelity. We are supposed to be hated for His sake. In the world, not of it.

    • Sheryl Reynolds

There is an abundance of Scripture in the Old and New Testaments that describe Satan – who he was – what he does – and his final end. We have numerous descriptions of people demon possessed and how they were delivered and set free by our Lord Jesus Christ. No offense to you Sir – but I believe I’ll take Him at his word.

      C. S. Lewis, “There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them.”

And one of my favorite passages “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Eph 6:12

      • Kevin Quillen

you mean C S Lewis who said that Matt 24:34 is the most embarrassing verse in the Bible?
Christ defeated the Devil on the cross. He is not around today. He was destroyed in the lake of fire.

        • Seamrog

          Sir, you are tragically mistaken.

        • AnneG

Satan was defeated by Jesus on the cross. He will not be destroyed until the end of time. There are active demos prowling about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Look it up.

          • Kevin Quillen

he was destroyed at the “end of the age”. The world in that day was not the world as we think of it. It was just the middle east. The end of the old covenant and the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple was the end of the age and the “Day of the Lord” spoken of throughout the Bible. Study Preterism.

        • Daniel

If you are referring to “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” He was actually referring to the people who crucified Him, not the demons who were influencing them.

          • Kevin Quillen

did you actually read Matt 24:34? apparently not.

  • Jim Walker

Not really demon possessed but demon influenced. As long as these people are far away from God, they are tools.

    • Daniel

We must pray for all of them….

  • fedup22010

Well written article. Definitely influenced by the “dark side”. People who say “Love trumps hate” and burn buildings, break windows, beat people up who disagree with them, attack anyone who isn’t marching with them…. are not in their right minds.

  • Nordog6561

Dostoevsky also predicted the current papacy in “The Grand Inquisitor”.

    • Zmirak

Ouch! More than a kernel of truth there. Read my graphic novel predicting something like that, written in 1994! “The Grand Inquisitor” by Zmirak on Amazon.

  • Pam Delaney

Maybe they are given over to their lies: reprobates. (2 Tim 3) They call evil good and good evil.

    • Louise C

      Yes, deceiving and being deceived.

    • Vincent J.

Romans 1:28-32 (NIV) Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.

  • Stupidity is our greatest enemy and birds of a feather flock together. More importantly stupid people are breeding and raising stupid children who go on to do the same. The powers that be who actually run this place know this and encourage it. They have been dumbing down the population for a few generations now through the education system they control and through the media sources they own. The number of stupid grows daily and there is no end in sight. And there is no solution. You cannot fix stupid.

    • ondabus

You are wrong. The stupid people are NOT having children. Their unborn children are being replaced by Muslim immigrants. The ultimate definition of stupidity is taking action thst will eliminate your genes from the gene pool of humanity.

  • Tom Graffagnino

Now that Heather’s got THREE mommies…
(And, who knows?…They might be men!)…
We can sense the bedlam coming
    And the fast-approaching end.

    Yes, with marriage deconstructed,
    And the guardrails taken down,
Watch the Lawless make the rules now,
    Watch the lunacy abound.

Watch the children start to sink, sir,
In the New Age Witches’ Brew.
    Watch more churches acquiescing,
    As the culture comes unglued.

    Watch the larger downward spiral
    Here in dark WhateverLand…
    Watch the lukewarm still pretending.
    Watch the Goispel being banned.

Watch the Broad Way getting wider,
    Pluralisms multiply…..
    Watch the Monkey Business Prophets
    Buying into Satan’s lie.

    • Howard

      Goispel?

  • oldbill55

I see the point of your article and embrace it fully. I would like your idea on the great delusion of 2 Thess. 2:9. For a few years I have felt we may be living in a time when this delusion afflicts the world, turning the lost into morally bankrupt “Zombies”.

    • ter ber

I concur wholeheartedly. Very sad state of affairs.

    • Howard

We won’t know that delusion in detail until it comes. And no, this does not seem to be it. This is bad, but not really unprecedented, and there is absolutely no reason to think that this is related to the emergence of the Antichrist.

      • RickinSD

I respectfully disagree. Study the festivals and how they correlate with Jesus’ ministry. Then dive into the deep water of eschatology.

        • Howard

Oh, there have been all kinds of such “methods”, including ones that involve the “pyramid inch”.
Give me a reason to trust your method.

  • pilgrim249

Political correctness is the theology of hell, what did you expect from it’s disciples?

    • Daniel

Political correctness is a tactic from the evil one to keep us silent…. Silent no more! Let’s let God have His way in us from now on!

  • BTP

Many here may have seen the “before” and “after” pictures of SJWs. “Before” college, they are lovely young people; “after” indoctrination, they become difficult to look at. They are, in their own way, as shocking a transformation as those with a terrible cancer or suffering for their meth habit. It is perfectly reasonable to suspect an extraordinary cause.

  • ter ber

    This is a Great article.

    • Daniel

Amen! May God rebuke him, we humbly pray.

  • Fishcicle

So who was talking about resistance during the previous administration?

    • John Stevens

Is all resistance morally equivalent? Is the thief justified by calling his theft “resistance against the evils of capitalism?”

      • Fishcicle

People can call anything they want resistance. In America we’re allowed to work to support our political beliefs. Nobody took that right away from the people who didn’t like the previous president. If people want to take that right away from people who don’t like the current president, what would you call that?

      • Fishcicle

    Nice job!

This is one of my favorite books. I see a lot of myself in Stepan Trofimovich Verkhovensky.

But a great idea and a great Will will encompass it from on high, as with that lunatic possessed of devils… and all those devils will come forth, all the impurity, all the rottenness that was putrefying on the surface … and they will beg of themselves to enter into swine; and indeed maybe they have entered into them already! They are we, we and those… and Petrusha and les autres avec lui… and I perhaps at the head of them, and we shall cast ourselves down, possessed and raving, from the rocks into the sea, and we shall all be drowned—and a good thing too, for that is all we are fit for. But the sick man will be healed and ‘will sit at the feet of Jesus,’ and all will look upon him with astonishment…. My dear, vous comprendrez après, but now it excites me very much…. Vous comprendrez après. Nous comprendrons ensemble.”

  • lindenman

Huh. Curiously enough, I started reading The Brothers Karamazov while working as a security guard at Scottsdale Optima Plaza. I ended up ditching it to play a video game called Snowball Fight on my cell phone. That’s why Mr. Zmirak and beauty will have to save the world with no help from me.

  • Kevin Quillen

you assume a lot. I am a Christian.

  • Yankeegator

Still enjoying the Enlightenment Mr. Zmirak?

  • Seamrog

“We must use the ordered force of law to protect ourselves and our institutions.”

I think that is no longer possible. They have taken the law, and corrupted it, and ever increasingly, use it as a weapon against us.

    • Daniel

Trust in the Lord who can do all things….

  • Wayne Cook

“We’re not just dealing with bad ideas, but evil spirits. (Where I live, this happens to me, late at night.)”

I saw this coming 40 years ago.

  • h2oplyer7

This was powerful. I normally find I don’t agree with this particular author. However, in this instance, I must agree. I wrote in Bernie Sanders on my California ballot this year. I have been shocked at how much my friends on the left hate those on the right. I still consider myself a liberal democrat, but I think my time of being mainstream passed away a few decades ago. I am now alone.

    • Daniel

God bless you, Brother. Get in touch with your innermost heart and you will find a deep-down, unquenchable thirst and desire for the infinite whose name is God! Keep searching. Things are becoming increasingly black and white. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

  • Charles Smith

Didn’t read the article. But the answer is yes.

  • RickinSD

John Zmirak, you’re an excellent example of what the LORD, through Timothy, calls us to do; “But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will.” 2 Timothy 2:23-26

  • Modern liberalism was always communism but now it has been morphing into satanism over the past year or so.

    • benevolus

Same spirit since the days of Marx: we can be good, just and fair without God, the author of goodness, justice, and fairness. The sin of the Garden of Eden was not to want too know the difference between good and evil. God wanted us to know that all along, in His timing. It was that each person should get to decide what is good and evil, individually and without God’s impartation of the knowledge.

      • Vincent J.

The sin of the garden of Eden was disobedience.

  • benevolus

The same could as well have been said of the Nazis and Stalinists, of Mao and of Pol Pot, and Idi Amin. But spiritual or not, we still had to fight massive, flesh-and-blood wars against the first two, especially the Nazis. I don’t believe one can cast a demon from a person who wants that demon to stay. In a situation like this, then, the solution to the radical Left may simply have to be a machine gun and a ditch.

    • Fishcicle

That was the solution of the Nazis to the Jews, few of whom could defend themselves. Is that really what you support? If so, I guess you have no problem with the guy who shot the Republican representatives the other day, even though he disagreed with your political beliefs.

  • Vincent J.

Pray for them, when you have reason to think of them, and call the cops, when it’s necessary.

  • bbb

The left, progressive, the DNC have openly professed the platform for Democrats in 2017 and it contains all but two major philosophies of communism.
Communism’s goal is to overthrow the USA and all Christian countries. It prescribes any methods necessary to reach that goal including lying [serving the Father of Lies] theft, deception, vulgarity and stripping away morality to commit acts the party demands.
For the last 8 years hard-core Democrats hammered Christians and invited Islamic jihadi into the US whose goal is to kill the infidel – primarily Christians.
When Jesus said that he who is not for Him is against Him it was succinctly profound.
Hollywood and video games tend to soft-soap the idea of demons except as cartoon characters. But demons are as real today as they were when Jesus cast them out of sick people or “possessed” people.
Unfortunately a lot of people actually invite demon influence into their lives through games and toying with Tarot cards and books of spells.
The left follows cult practices and many naïve college students become enthralled with the strong intolerance, the mandates not to be different in thinking, demands of time and money to support the Democrat “causes” and shunning for those who dare step outside the cult rules.
So, yes. The left is servile to the Father of Lies and many innocents are swept into the drama of it.
If one prays they need to pray in the Holy Spirit and group prayers especially for interventions to help youth overcome being in a cult are very powerful.

  • Armand Tetreault

Very well written and thought out article. And because it’s been a subversive and slow transition so many have fallen for it like the frog in boiling water.
