“We have a lot of people who claim they have faith, and the Lord says, ‘Well, I see your fruit. I see your heart. If you believed that I defeated death on the cross, you would live differently.’”

So says author and radio host Eric Metaxas, who recently joined Stream founder James Robison for an episode of LIFE Today. (And they’re giving Stream readers an exclusive early look at the show!) The two discussed Metaxas’s new book, Letter to the American Church, and how the silence of the Church in America today mirrors the silence of the German Church before the holocaust.

We need to learn from the German Church and begin to speak up against the evils in our culture today. “If not,” says Metaxas, “we are going down precisely the same path. And people say, ‘I can’t believe it, I can’t believe it.’ Trust me when I say that the Germans didn’t believe that that future was even possible. But it happened, and we are no different than the Germans.”
