PHILADELPHIA — Vice President Joe Biden slammed Republican presidential nominee, alleging he “doesn’t have a clue,” during his speech at the Democratic National Convention Wednesday evening.

Biden took a swing at the GOP candidate, saying America shouldn’t want a president that is best known for firing people on television.

“He is trying to tell us he cares about the middle class. Give me a break – that is a bunch of malarkey,” he said, which was met with enthusiastic cheers from the crowd.

Despite reports indicating the middle class has been drastically shrinking, Biden claimed the demographic has grown during the course of the Obama administration.

“Whatever he thinks, and I mean is from the bottom of my heart — I know I’m called middle-class Joe and in Washington, that is not meant as a compliment,” he said. “It means you are not sophisticated. I know why we are strong, I know why we are held together, I know why we are united, it is because there has always been a growing middle class.”

Biden alleged Trump doesn’t understand the average American and his policies wouldn’t help people climb the economic ladder.

“This guy does not have a clue about the middle class. Not a clue. Because folks, when the middle class does well, the rich do very well and the poor have hope,” he continued. “They have a way out. He has no clue about what makes America great. Actually, he has no clue period.”

Biden went on to say voters shouldn’t be swayed by fear, adding he’s more optimistic about America’s future than when he was first elected.

“The 21st century is going to be the American century,” he said, apparently taking a line out of the Sen. Marco Rubio speech-writing playbook. “Because we lead not only by example of our power, but by the power of our example. That is the history of the journey of Americans. And God willing, Hillary Clinton will write the next chapter in that journey.”
