Jobless Teen Gives $10K Won in Talent Competition to Homeless Shelter

Christian Hudson could have been $10,000 richer Saturday night after beating 11 competitors to take the top prize at the Stampede Talent Search.

Instead, inspired by a few nights surrounded by Calgary’s homeless, he vowed he would donate the money to the Calgary Drop-In and Rehab Centre. The 19-year-old singer, who quit his job at an auto auction in Airdrie to participate in the talent search, made the peculiar decision to spend a few nights in a sleeping bag near the Bow River. He said he slept outdoors to save money instead of driving back to Airdrie each night.
