The Brew: Happy Veterans Day to a Nation in Transition
Thank you, Dad. And thank you to all who served with you.
At the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918, an armistice was signed ending the Great War, World War I.
Today, we mark that anniversary as Veterans Day, honoring all those who have served in our armed forces in times of war.
To commemorate, Stream contributor and bestselling military author Tom Sileo introduces us to “Five Inspirational Vets.”
To the tens of millions who have put on the uniform in the hours of our nation’s greatest need, we can never thank you enough.
Trump Transition Underway
Biden to Meet With Trump Wednesday
Donald Trump and Joe Biden will meet at the White House at 11 a.m. Wednesday to discuss the transfer of power. That should take all of five seconds:
“Thanks for that ‘his supporters are garbage’ crack, Joe. Really helped me out.”
“No problem, pal.”
“About the transition … “
“You know the routine around here already. No joke. Let’s go get ice cream.”
Seriously, what’s the over/under on whether The Big Guy will be as giddy Wednesday as he was at his speech after the election?
Staffing Update: Pompeo, Haley Out, DOJ/FBI Officials Plan to Bail
You can nix Mike Pompeo and Nikki Haley from nominees for Trump’s cabinet. Trump announced Saturday that neither will be part of his administration. Pompeo was being floated as Defense Secretary; MAGA world was worried that Trump would relent and bring his bitter primary rival back into the fold.
Haley wished Trump and his new administration “great success.”

Meanwhile, The Blaze reports several high-level DOJ and FBI bureaucrats are planning to head for the hills now that Trump has won. This includes FBI Director Christopher Wray. Rumors are he will step down before the inauguration. Trump appointed Wray in 2017, but the latter spent his tenure allowing the FBI to grow increasingly partisan and vindictive while running interference for the White House.
Just three weeks ago, Florida sued the DOJ for blocking its investigation into the second assassination attempt on Trump.
A Generous Offer or a Great Troll?
Donald Trump’s first post on X after the election was an offer to pay off Kamala Harris’s campaign debts in the name of unity.
I am very surprised that the Democrats, who fought a hard and valiant fight in the 2020 Presidential Election, raising a record amount of money, didn’t have lots of $’s left over. Now they are being squeezed by vendors and others. Whatever we can do to help them during this…

Only Donald Trump could make both a generous gesture and an epic troll at the same time.
Speaking of Harris’s campaign debt …
Lessons from Kamala’s Billion-Dollar Splurge
Kamala Harris raised a billion dollars for her campaign, blew it all in a matter of months, and ended up $20 million in debt. And still lost the race. Her spending tells us a few things.
How would you feel to be a small donor to the Harris campaign, thinking you’re saving democracy from the Evil Orange Man, only to discover that Harris blew $100,000 on recreating the Call Me Daddy set because she couldn’t be bothered to fly out to L.A. to do the podcast there? Assuming you even needed to recreate the set — which is a generous assumption — any competent theater company could have built the set at a fraction of the cost. This proves the woman is wasteful. Imagine what she would have done with your tax dollars over the next four years.
Second, the expenditure exposes her imperial instincts. They may not be exactly on the scale of a monarch building a shrine to himself out of the public treasure, but it’s the same mentality.
Harris’s expenditures also prove the whole “saving democracy from Hitler” thing the Democrats were running on was a con. A hustle. Here is your proof. At a rally in Philadelphia before the election, Oprah Winfrey was railing about how Donald Trump’s reelection would be the end of free elections in America. Yet Winfrey charged the Harris campaign a million dollars to do their little “Unite for America” sit-down in September.
According to Forbes, Oprah is worth $3 billion dollars. If she truly believed freedom and democracy were at stake, wouldn’t she have conducted that interview for free, for the sake of the country?
On the flip side, Elon Musk so feared the censorship and danger to free speech that would grow under a Harris administration that he dropped $44 billion out of his own pocket to purchase Twitter.
FEMA Official Ordered Workers in Florida to Bypass Houses with Trump Signs
Another conspiracy theory has been proven true in despicable fashion. It turns out that FEMA was, indeed, slow-walking assistance to those who support Trump in hurricane-hit areas. And the Daily Wire has proven it.
According to leaked emails, in the wake of Hurricane Milton, a FEMA supervisor ordered workers in Florida to pass by any houses that had Trump signs out in front. A list of “best practices” included “avoid homes advertising Trump.”

That supervisor, Marn’i Washington, has been fired, FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell said Saturday.
We have the full story in “FEMA Denied Hurricane Relief in Florida to Homes with Trump Signs. Anybody Surprised?,” including why this abominable directive is directly connected to Kamala Harris’s comments about equity.
“This is a clear violation of FEMA’s core values and principles to help people regardless of their political affiliation,” Criswell said, adding, “this employee has been terminated, and we have referred the matter to the Office of Special Counsel.”
Rundown of the Meltdown
The Blame Game
The Blame Game for why the Democrats were blown out in the election continues. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi shredded both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, telling The New York Times the election would have turned out differently had Biden dropped out earlier, giving the Democrats the chance to hold an “open primary” — the implication being the primary voters would have chosen someone less inept than Harris.
A dozen or so Democratic figures also griped to Politico that Biden should have dropped out of the race earlier. Funny how the Democratic establishment insisted Biden was fine and fit right up until the first presidential debate in June. That includes the Washington Post.
The paper published an editorial Friday saying Harris’s cover-up of Biden’s mental deficiencies is partially to blame for her loss because it called her “credibility” into question. As if there wasn’t a building full of reporters just down the street from the White House who could have been talking about Biden’s condition the whole time, but chose not to.
We’ve also seen some …um… “creative” excuses for Harris’s loss. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre tried to blame the aftermath of the COVID pandemic for taking down leaders around the world, implying that impacted Biden-Harris’s chances.
Trump-hating comedian Kathy Griffin pointed a bony finger at Taylor Swift. “I know this will get me in trouble. But I really really wish Taylor Swift had done an event with Vice President Harris in Pennsylvania two months ago,” she said during her internet meltdown. She later amended her rant by adding, “OK, I just had to say that because she’s so powerful, and it’s not fair that the weight of the world should be on a pop star’s shoulders.”
Then she accused Americans of being “racist and misogynist.”
Griffin does have a bit of a point about Swift. Aside from a brief endorsement of Harris, Swift really did sit the election out. She didn’t do any campaign appearances with Harris, special concerts, or constantly push the Swifties to vote. Has hanging out with football fans in Kansas City washed away some of her liberal celebrity elitism? Or was she just too smart to go all in on an obviously terrible candidate?
Pressuring Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor to Retire
With Trump’s victory and the GOP taking over the Senate, Democrats are panicking over the thought that Trump will be in a position to nominate a couple more conservative justices to the U.S. Supreme Court. Politico reports that Senate Democrats are talking about pressuring liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor to retire immediately in order to give Biden and the Democratic Senate the chance to appoint a younger liberal justice before Trump retakes office in January.
The tastelessness of pushing the first Latino justice so unceremoniously out the door is not their concern. According to Politico:
(1) It’d be a risky play with the party already trying to figure out how to handle a crowded lame-duck session
(2) no senator seems to be offering to be the person to put his or her neck on their line publicly (or even privately) by pushing for Sotomayor to step aside.
While at 70, Sotomayor is only the third oldest justice, she’s wrestled with health issues and expressed her frustration at serving on a court now dominated by conservatives. However, unfortunately for scheming Democrats, a source close to the Sotomayor told The Wall Street Journal she “has no plans to retire.”
Ella Emhoff Not in a Mental Institute
Here’s some good news. Kamala Harris’s stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, is vehemently denying reports that she had a mental breakdown after the election and was hospitalized. Emhoff was seen sobbing after Harris’s concession speech. “There’s nothing wrong with showing emotion and crying,” she said. “Anyone who says there is probably needs a good cry.”
