You Must Love Her

Hillary Clinton seems unable to exist in a world in which she is not central.

Hillary Clinton seems unable to exist in a world in which she is not central.

She models shoes in the “Katy Perry Collection” the singer named for her. (“The Hillary,” in case you wondered.)

She is a “Champion of the Century” according to America’s leading abortion provider (332,000 unborn deaths annually and counting), Planned Parenthood.

“Why Hillary Clinton’s next big stage should be at the Tony Awards,” says Los Angeles Times reporter Charles McNulty. After all, he notes, the audience of a recent play erupted in cheers “as she made her way down the aisle with husband Bill.” McNulty made sure we remember that she is “the former secretary of State and first female presidential nominee of a major party.” Harrumph: Yes, Charles, we are so very prone to forget.

Note: Hillary did not enter the theater quietly. “She made her way down” with “husband Bill.” How these humble folk flit through our lives!

The “Liberated” Hillary Clinton

Hillary approves of the recent New York legislature’s enactment of tuition-free public college education. She dislikes President Trump’s budget, calling it a “grave mistake.” She offers wisdom on “women’s role in peace and politics” at Georgetown University.

New York Magazine finds great meaning in Hillary’s latest new look: “What Hillary’s Leather Jacket Reveals About Her New, Postelection Persona.” And Vogue tells us, “Hillary Clinton Proves That a New Haircut Is the Best Comeback Companion.”

Just think: What if Mitt Romney had started wearing sweater vests and gotten a crew cut in 2013?

Hillary doesn’t know how to just be real.

Hillary “blasts,” “returns to center stage,” offers a “scathing attack,” takes “an apparent shot,” “criticizes,” “knocks,” “slams,” “decries,” “raps,” “beefs,” “speaks out,” and “pulls no punches,” according to headlines from New Zealand to Ireland. Is it me, or does she seem unhappy?

Ah — but now truth comes out: “Hillary Clinton has been liberated,” writes the infatuated Nicholas Kristof in The New York Times. “She is now out of the woods again, and speaking her mind … she’s out of her shell, freed by defeat, and far more willing to speak bluntly.”

What?! This is a woman who has made her living for three decades by talking. It has taken her this long to “speak bluntly,” to be “freed” to speak her mind? Her quick-change act during the campaign — a new audience, a new Hillary — came about because she doesn’t know how to just be real.

Addicted to Fame, Embittered by Trump

In fairness to “the former Secretary of State and first female presidential nominee of a major party,” how can anyone get such endless acclaim and not become addicted to it?

This addiction is fed by the liberal elites in the media, professional feminists (women who are paid for reminding us they are women), and the entertainment industry. It is given a glow of credibility by academics and righteousness by various “communities” (homosexual “rights” and pro-abortion advocates, most particularly).

She lost because she was an unappealing candidate with a reputation for corruption. She had no compelling message. She offered no real accomplishments other than being Hillary Clinton.

However, this glow is only the lining of a dark cloud. Hillary lost. She is a queen in exile, reduced to parading through theaters instead of walking through the halls of power.

The gall of Hillary’s defeat is, for her fans, made even more bitter by the upswing in the prospects for President Trump’s agenda.

The wisdom of his strike against Syria should be debated, but the man acted. A President who decides — imagine that …

A Supreme Court Justice who believes in the Constitution has been sworn-in. A new and comprehensive health care plan seems to be in the offing. Major and much needed military rebuilding is underway. North Korea is on notice. The prospect for streamlining and simplifying the tax code seems strong.

With No Real Achievements, Hillary Lost

Along with all of this is a simple fact: Hillary Clinton not only lost, she lost big. She lost in Democratic states. She lost despite massively outspending Donald Trump. She lost despite tailoring her speeches to every different audience.

She lost because she was an unappealing candidate with a reputation for corruption. She had no compelling message. She offered no real accomplishments other than being Hillary Clinton. Former First Lady of Arkansas and the United States, former Senator, former Secretary of State, and former board member of Wal-Mart. Titles everywhere, but no substance, no achievement, no great deeds, no authenticity.

The success of a man who is, to Mrs. Clinton, the ultimate usurper, someone unworthy to scrub her Katy Perrys, must continue to stun her. Even if she is now liberated, leather-coated and “out of her shell.”
