U.S. Army Gen. Douglas MacArthur signs as Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers during Japan’s formal surrender on September 2, 1945, aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay. The ceremony marked the official end of World War II.

Seventy-five years after the greatest military victory the world has ever seen, we honor our nation’s World War II veterans – living and departed – for their selfless sacrifices. Thank you for saving the world from tyranny and evil, and may God bless you and your families.
