The Morning Brew for Wednesday, May 19, 2021

By Al Perrotta Published on May 19, 2021

Happy Wednesday!

Some mornings you have to feel the steaming heat of that first cup of coffee just to be sure you ain’t dreaming.

But I assure you what we’ve got percolating is real.

Machine in Pa. Primary Doesn’t Want to Read Republican Ballots

Funny thing happened in yesterday’s primaries in Fayette County, Pa. Some vote scanning machines across the county wouldn’t scan Republican ballots. At first, they thought the issue involved all ballots. But no. Just the Republicans. State Rep. Matt Dowling says, “It does seem to be an issue with how the barcodes were printed.”

WPXI reports “The Fayette County Republican Party filed an emergency petition for a judge to order all ballots not to be scanned, and instead, have the Judge of Elections and poll workers tally the ballots at the end of the day.”

But wait! There was also a coding error in Luzerne County, Pa. With this one, Republican voters were greeted with an introductory screen saying “Official Democratic Ballot.” No biggie, election officials in Wilkes-Barre said. The next screen the voter would go to loaded the Republican ballot.

Reports WNEP ABC 16, “Luzerne County election officials say it was a coding error with the vendor Dominion Voting Systems that led to the misprint on the introductory voting screen, but they say that is where the error ended.”

Dominion? Never heard of them.

Curious how all these little “errors” always seem to go against Republicans. (See Windham, New Hampshire audit.) But saying something went wonky with tabulation machines in the 2020 Election, and Liz Cheney’s calling you a threat to democracy. And questioning Dominion gets you sued.

Did Someone Slip LSD Into Psaki’s Coffee Mug?

Either White House press secretary has been drinking spiked java or she’s auditioning for a gig with Hamas.

As rockets reign down on Israel by the thousands after four years of quiet, as the ink is barely dry on the four Israeli-Arab peace treaties secured under Trump’s Abraham Accords, Psaki actually said this Tuesday:

“Aside from putting forward a peace proposal that was dead on arrival, we don’t think [the Abraham Accords] did anything constructive really to bring an end to the long-standing conflict in the Middle East.”

Historic Peace = nothing constructive. Renewed War = our policy is working.

We’ve gone from this …

… to this:

For historical perspective on the current Israeli crisis, our Dr. Jim Garlow series “Understanding Israel’s War, Part 4: Arabs Riot, British Backtrack” continues this morning.

Biden Gifts Putin Controversial Pipeline

For four years, Democrats and the MSM accused Donald Trump of being a pet of Vladimir Putin. But who’s the one playing fetch? According to Axios, Biden is now lifting sanctions on the company overseeing the construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline from Russia into Germany. A company run by a Putin crony. Trump fought against the pipeline, arguing it would enrich Russia, increase its political and economic leverage over Europe, and hurt America’s efforts to export liquefied natural gas to Europe.

Biden’s own Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated during his confirmation, “I am determined to do whatever we can to prevent that completion (of Nord Stream 2).” And the State Department still claims opposition to “this Russian malign influence project.”

So why is Biden caving on sanctions? According to Axios, the White House doesn’t want to risk relations with Germany over the pipeline.

Catch that? Biden wants to harm American energy workers and empower Russia, just so Germany doesn’t throw a hissy.

Biden Gifts Illegal Immigrants Housing Vouchers on Your Dime

But Al, the United States president would never put foreigners over Americans, would he? Well … On Monday, HUD Secretary Marcia Fudge confirmed illegal immigrants will be eligible to participate in a $5 billion emergency housing vouchers program. The White House is reversing a Trump policy of ensuring only U.S. citizens get U.S housing aid.

Then-HUD Secretary Ben Carson had said, “Fairness requires that we devote ourselves to legal residents who have been waiting, some for many years, for access to affordable housing.”

Cuomo Made a Killing

Hitmen never had it so good. Gov. Andrew Cuomo disclosed Monday he will be banking over $5 million for his book celebrating his COVID-19 leadership.  American Crisis: Leadership Lessons From the COVID-19 Pandemic was written as he was stuffing sick COVID patients into nursing homes and covering up the carnage. And fending off sexual harassment allegations.

Unfortunately for Cuomo, those millions might be going towards lawyers. New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio declared the state Attorney General will be looking into the book bucks. “I think it was state-sponsored literature,” De Blasio told NY1. “This guy clearly depended upon public employees to do a lot of the work, and that’s not acceptable, I mean that’s not even close.”

Meanwhile, the son of New York’s former mayor Rudy Giuliani, is gunning Cuomo. Andrew Giuliani announced Tuesday he will be challenging Cuomo in 2022.

Pope Itching to Move Catholic Church Off Pro-Life Position?

“Is Pope Francis Preparing the Catholic Church to Abandon Unborn Children?” That’s what Joseph D’Hippolito explores in a new article now up on The Stream. Joseph makes a strong, provocative … if circumstantial … case. We pray he’s wrong.

From the Vatican to Virginia. Progressive thinking is invading the most sacred places.

Alexandria, VA Strikes Out

“So, Johnny, did you learn how to bunt today at little league practice?”

“No, Daddy. But I did learn that I am inherently racist and have internalized my whiteness!”

Welcome to the Alexandria, Va. Little League. The league has sent an email to all their coaches ordering them to attend the “Sports Can Battle Racism” workshop on May 24.

According to The Washington Free Beacon, a document from the workshop:

includes six core themes, from “Create a Caring Climate” to “Model Anti-Racist Behavior.” Coaches are encouraged to teach themselves to perceive their own “internalized racism” and look for “potential institutional racism” in the community. Coaches are also asked to “be on the lookout” for moments that they can use as “anti-racism learning opportunities.

Alexandria parent Barry Bennett called foul ball. “This is Little League, everyone plays in the game,” he told the Free Beacon. “This is a bunch of busybodies virtue signaling. Leave ten-year-olds alone.”

Amen. Then again, clearly a sport featuring white bases and a white ball is signaling racial superiority.

A Final Note

In the above story, I was going to say the leaders of Alexandria Little League have taken too many beanballs to the head. But after what happened Monday night to Met’s outfield Kevin Pillar … naaaaah, not a good idea.

Pillar suffered multiple nasal fractures after being hit in the face by a 94-MPH fastball. Always a terrifying thing to see. Thankfully, Pillar tweeted that he’s “doing fine,” noting that being hit by a pitch helped the Mets beat the Braves.

We pray Kevin enjoys a quick and full healing. And after seeing the clip I want to express my gratitude that my biggest headache at work today was someone forgetting to turn on the warmer on the break room coffee machine.

Hope your day is a winner!
