The Morning Brew: Republican Glenn Youngkin Overcomes Dirty Tricks to Take Virginia, New Jersey a Squeaker!

Welcome to Wednesday.

And a Brew we call Democracy.

One Year After …

It was one year ago today Americans … living and dead … went to the polls. A year ago that five swing states suddenly stopped counting votes when it looked as if Donald Trump was running away with his re-election bid. When suddenly unverified and late mail-in ballots from places and persons unknown arrived in the dark of night to send Biden’s numbers unnaturally spiking. When the $419 million Zuckbucks Democrats filtered through local Democrat-run election offices in swing states to progressive activists to drum up and fix Democratic votes, paid off.

The “fortification” of the election plotted out in 2019, made easier by the excuse of COVID and the massive interference of Big Tech, was a success. Leaving the nation burdened with the installation of Joe Biden as President.

81 million legitimate votes?  Sure. And a Biden’s a legitimate bet to win the Men’s Figure Skating Champion at the Winter Olympics.

But last night offered hope for those who believe in election integrity. And bad news for Democrats.

Republican Glenn Youngkin Win Governorship of Virginia

Democrats threw Biden, Obama, Harris, fake “white supremacists” and tiki-torches at him, but Republican businessman Glenn Younkin has won governor’s race in Virginia over former Clinton operative Terry McAuliffe.

Youngkin certainly went into Election Day with the momentum. McAuliffe went in with feeble crowds, and last minute dirty tricks and smears. But also with a judge who allowed Virginia’s Democrat-heavy Fairfax County to accept countless applications for mail-in ballots, despite them not having the legally-required last for digits of the applicants’ SSN. (The judge rejected a suit by the Virginia Institute for Public Policy because the institute lacked the standing to sue.)

Youngkin showed surprising strength in areas McAuliffe needed to do well in. He also did better than Trump did last year in heavily red areas. Also, Youngkin did well in Richmond suburbs and Loudon County, indicating that McAuliffe’s repeated claim that parents shouldn’t have a say in what their schools teach … and the garbage that is being taught children … has cost Democrats dearly.

And the McAuliffe/Lincoln Project stunts did not pay off.

Update: Terry McAuliffe has conceded, saying in part: “Congratulations to Governor-Elect Glenn Youngkin on his victory. I hope Virginians will join me in wishing the best to him and his family.”

Voter Suppression in Virginia

The desperate dirty tricks continued Tuesday.

Voters at several locations polling stations in Virginia were falsely told they needed to wear masks to vote. Washington Free Beacon senior editor F. Bill McMorris tweeted this experience: “Poll workers demanded I mask up in order to vote. At no point did they ask to see my face to see if it matched the ID. Seems legit.”

The Virginia GOP sent out an urgent tweet, saying, “To be clear, if someone is not wearing a face covering they may NOT be turned away or refused their right to vote.” The Virginia Department of Elections itself sent out a message:

One polling station didn’t seem to pay attention.

Matt Schlapp, chairman of the American Conservative Union, was told to wear a mask when he voted. “Knowing what the GOP thinks about masks, isn’t this just an illegal barrier to voting? But I can count on one thing our judges will do nothing.”

Conservative pundit Charlie Hurt was more direct: “To be clear, this is illegal voter suppression.”

New Jersey Shocker: Race for Governor a Dead Heat?

New Jersey couldn’t be in more shock this morning if Frank Sinatra was found skinning dipping in the Atlantic City surf. In a race pundits expected to be a cakewalk for Gov. Phil Murphy, the Democratic incumbent finds himself in a dead heat this morning with Republican Jack Ciattarelli. At 4 a.m. Eastern, Ciattarelli remained ahead by roughly 1,200 votes.

Murphy is likely to still pull it out, but the fact the race is a nail-biter in a state Biden won by 16% just one year ago, is scary news for Democrats. The disaster in Virginia they can — and are — blaming on McAuliffe being a terrible candidate and the GOP running on the illusion of “Critical Race Theory” … and, of course, the same people who voted for Biden a year ago are now racists. But New Jersey shows the rejection of the Democrat agenda is deeper.

Va. Democrat Lawmaker Caught Tearing Down Signs of His Opponent

Democratic state legislator Chris Hurst was busted in Radford, Va., taking down the lawn signs of his opponent on election eve. Technically, Hurst was cited for driving with a suspended license — he’d been popped last year for a DUI. It was his passenger (and  girlfriend) who was jumping out and knocking down the signs of his Republican opponent Jason Ballard.

Said Ballard: “I am deeply disappointed that Chris Hurst has decided to end his campaign in such a reckless way. His latest misstep is yet another reason why he doesn’t deserve another term as Delegate.”

NYC’s Mayor Bill DeBlasio Not Happy With Destroying Big Apple. He Wants to Run the Entire Empire State

New York’s socialist mayor Bill DeBlasio is so pleased with how he’s wrecked the Big Apple, he thinks he deserves a promotion to governor. Yes, the mayor who turned one of the greatest cities on the planet into a dystopian hellhole has filed preliminary papers to run for governor.

What’s his slogan? “I’ll Keep My Hands Off My Female Aides”? Actually, more like “Empty Wallets, Empty Buildings, Emptied Prisons. And Two Deranged Homeless People in Every Driveway.”

DeBlasio will be replaced as NYC mayor by Democrat and former cop Eric Adams, who won last night over Guardian Angels founder Curt Sliwa. Given the mess DeBlasio has left the city, it’s hard to say which of the two candidates to congratulate.

Huh? FEC Okays Foreign Money Funding American Ballot Referendums?!

The effort by the Biden Administration to give our sovereignty away is going from the border to the ballot box. The FEC has ruled foreign donors can finance U.S. referendum campaigns, Axios is reporting.

This means China, or Russia, or George Soros can pour cash into any anti-American lunatic measure progressives can get on the ballot. Now, individual states can still stop foreign money in their elections, but in Blue states would they?

Already 61 referendums are set for the 2022 ballot, according to Ballotpedia. There could be dozens more

I guess there is a bright side. At least foreigners wanting to influence U.S. policy no longer have to pretend to like Hunter Biden’s artwork.
