The Brew: Will Andrew Cuomo Face Justice for the Blue State Nursing-Home Genocide?

Fox News reports:

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., referred former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo to President Donald Trump’s Justice Department for criminal prosecution.

Cuomo – the Democratic scion now considered the current frontrunner in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary in June – was first referred to the Biden Justice Department for criminal prosecution in October 2024. Former Rep. Brad Wenstrup, then-chairman of the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, said Cuomo made “multiple criminally false statements” to Congress about his handling of the 2020 COVID-19 nursing home death scandal.

In a new letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi on Monday, Comer said “to our knowledge, the Biden administration ignored this referral despite clear facts and evidence.” He requested that Bondi review the referral and “take appropriate action.”

Let’s pray that Bondi makes this prosecution a top priority, then extends it to cover the actual decision to dump COVID patients in nursing homes — not just in New York, but also in other large blue states such as California, Michigan, and Pennsylvania. As I wrote here back in 2022 about the Blue State Nursing-Home Genocide:

  • Governors in the largest blue states … engaged in what appears to be a coordinated strategy. They targeted the one group of citizens most likely to die from exposure to COVID: vulnerable elderly people in nursing homes. And these governors forced nursing homes to admit thousands of COVID patients. That quickly spread infections throughout those homes, killing uncounted tens of thousands of Korean War veterans and grandmas. They died without goodbye visits (the homes were all locked down), without benefit of clergy (none were allowed to visit), and were not granted religious burial. Instead, they were incinerated as medical waste, like pets abandoned at kill shelters.
  • Governors did this claiming they needed hospital beds for new COVID patients. Yet in New York, thousands of hospital beds went vacant and unused — at the Javits Center, at Samaritan’s Purse, on the U.S.S. Comfort. So that clearly wasn’t the real reason for dumping — or we might say seeding — COVID patients in nursing homes. What was? Are we to believe this was sheer incompetence?
  • These nursing home deaths created a sudden spike in the death statistics in those blue states, which Democrat governors used as a pretext for total lockdowns. Churches were closed, schools were shuttered, small businesses were devastated. “Essential” businesses like liquor stores, abortion clinics, and huge box chain stores were exempted. In New York, Cuomo cited a state of “COVID emergency” in an executive order seizing guns. In Michigan, [Gretchen] Whitmer violated the state constitution with her power grab, only later getting rebuked by her state’s supreme court.

The Justice Department should launch a RICO investigation into what was at best negligent homicide committed against thousands of Korean War veterans, grandmothers, and other helpless Americans. Naomi Wolf made that case concisely in 2024 with a single tweet:

Let justice be done though the heavens fall.

When Will the DOJ Actually Prosecute Someone?

Trump’s political base and most important supporters are getting impatient with the snail’s pace of investigations of Democrat abuses of power and lawfare. Instead of Fox News showing incessant appearances from Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel, Trump’s most fervent fans want to see Deep State operatives marched out in handcuffs. Steve Bannon in particular has been venting his frustration:

Will the Democrats’ MS-13 Poster Boy Pay Off for Them Politically?

As Democrats double down on their latest manufactured martyr, accused MS-13 member and wife-beater Kilmar Abrego Garcia, by going to visit him in prison and lobby for his release in the name of “democracy,” Republicans are happy to let them. The Hill reports:

“Of course it’s a winning issue. Americans support enforcing the law. Common sense tells you this and polls confirm it. If Democrats want to talk about MS-13 gang members, we’re happy to oblige them,” a senior White House official told me about the messaging in the Abrego Garcia case. Abrego Garcia’s attorneys and family have disputed allegations he is in MS-13.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), House Republicans’ campaign arm, went as far as to offer to pay for House Democrats’ trips to El Salvador as they demanded Abrego Garcia’s release — on the condition they “livestream the whole thing” and “snap plenty of selfies with your MS-13 buddies.”

“We’ll pay for the plane tickets, they just can’t forget to smile for the camera while they sell out their constituents,” NRCC spokesperson Mike Marinella said … .

Another electoral sure thing the Democrats are playing with: Letting unelected judges micromanage every decision by the elected president and his executive branch. Trump is playing 4D chess, while the Democrats seem to be playing dodgeball.

Another Winning Issue for Liberals: Groomer Books Forced on Kids in Government Schools

About 100 years ago, the great magician Harry Houdini made a name for himself by seeming to attempt suicide on stage: He’d have himself handcuffed, shackled, blindfolded, and locked in a tank full of water — then awe the audience by somehow extricating himself just in time and emerging alive. Crowds would worry, gasp, then cheer at his death-defying stunts.

Is that what the Left is doing right now? Witness its figureheads doubling down on the most repugnant, crass assaults on common sense and Constitutional rights, just to show off how they can hold on to power no matter what — thanks to their magical talents of judicial tyranny and ballot fraud. It’s hard to find another natural explanation for why the Left has abandoned economic issues, civil liberties, a peaceful foreign policy, and every other concern that once fueled Democrat victories. Instead, it’s all freak show, all the time.

The latest example is playing out in the classrooms of government schools in Maryland, and is now being adjudicated by the U.S. Supreme Court, as we mentioned yesterday. Since then, the parties have put their arguments before the court. According to NBC News:

The Supreme Court on Tuesday appeared likely to rule for parents in Maryland who objected on religious grounds to books made available in a school district’s elementary schools that feature stories about gay and transgender characters.

Members of the 6-3 conservative majority, which often backs religious rights, seemed sympathetic during the lively 2½-hour oral argument toward the parents’ claims that the Montgomery County Board of Education violated their religious rights by failing to provide an opt-out for their children.

Scotusblog offered more details on the case of Mahmoud v. Taylor:

The dispute before the justices on Tuesday began in 2022, when the county approved books featuring LGBTQ+ characters for inclusion in its language-arts curriculum. One book used for young children, Pride Puppy, tells the story of a puppy that gets lost during a Pride parade. Another book tells the story of a girl attending her uncle’s same-sex wedding.

When the county announced in 2023 that it would not allow parents to opt to have their children excused from instruction involving the storybooks, a group of Muslim, Catholic, and Ukrainian Orthodox parents went to federal court. They contended that the refusal to give them the option to opt their children out violated their constitutional right to freely exercise their religion – specifically, their ability to instruct their children on issues of gender and sexuality according to their faith and to control when and how these issues are introduced to their children.

In other words, as the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus once infamously sang on Youtube, “We’re Coming for Your Children.”
