The Brew: Trump Wants to Help Lower the Heat
Today’s Brew is boiling over. Plus a new Stream poll!
Trump Contacts DOJ, Offering to Help ‘Lower the Heat’
Former President Trump told Fox News Monday he has reached out to the Department of Justice offering whatever he can to “help the country” in the wake of the outrage over the raid of his home. Trump says we are in a “dangerous time,” and the “temperature has to be brought down.”
“The country is in a very dangerous position,” he said. “There is tremendous anger, like I’ve never seen before, over all of the scams, and this new one — years of scams and witch hunts, and now this.”
“There has never been a time like this where law enforcement has been used to break into the house of a former president of the United States, and there is tremendous anger in the country — at a level that has never been seen before, other than during very perilous times.”
“If there is anything we can do to help, I, and my people, would certainly be willing to do that.”
The DOJ has not responded.
Perhaps Trump can hold/host a prayer vigil for the nation from Mar-a-Lago. If only he knew faith leaders who could help him with that.
Scott Adams has framed the situation beautifully.
Before you decide how "extreme" the Right wing rhetoric is about the Mar-a-Lago raid, take a moment to consider how extreme the raid itself was. It has every tell for being the thirteenth hoax, and if so, it is a pre-emptive insurrection. pic.twitter.com/0hjbZujZK0

Stopping the Former President From Leaving the Country?
Trump also revealed Monday that the FBI took three of his passports in what he calls an “assault on a political opponent.” Are you surprised?
The DOJ also rejected requests to release the underlying affidavits behind the warrants, saying it would impede their “criminal investigation.” What’s the problem? Why do you want to know what the Feds told the judge? It’s not like this same FBI and DOJ lied to judges before to secure warrants to go after Trump in 2016.
Ask Peter Strzok, the FBI counter-terrorism honcho who made sure Hillary walked and Trump was spied on, who could “smell” the Trump voters at Walmart, who assured his lover Lisa Page that the “insurance policy” they’d worked out in Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s office in 2016 would keep Trump from the presidency. That “we won’t allow” Trump to become president.
He told MSNBC viewers to “Trust what the FBI is doing.”
Stream Twitter Poll Results
We took a poll last week asking, “Which day do you think will ultimately have a bigger impact on America?” January 6 (Capitol Riot) or August 8 (Mar-a-Lago Raid).
How did you respond? 91% said August 8. Just 9% said the Capitol Riot.
Which day do you think will ultimately have a bigger impact on America?

Headlines Make Your Head Twist:
But don’t worry. The White House Easter Bunny is fully up to speed.
Biden’s hanging out on a secluded South Carolina island in the $20 million mansion of one of his donors. Remember the grief Trump would get when he’d just take a few hours to play golf at one of his own courses?
I know, we’re just being snarky. We don’t begrudge the president taking a vacation. All those trips to Delaware can wear out a guy.
Has anyone heard any monkeys complain? Curious George leading a celebrity protest campaign?
“The temperature’s up a quarter of a degree, Mommy. Can I have a Big Mac?”
The study published in the journal Temperature holds that hotter temperatures have made kids “more inactive and more obese.” Really? It has nothing to do with junk food and smart phones and video games and kids not being able to run around the neighborhood without Child Protective Services being called?
Joe Biden’s ‘Not Running’ Says Dem Congresswoman When She Thought She Was Off-the-Record
Joe Biden won’t be running. At least that’s what Rep. Carolyn Maloney told the New York Times during a conversation with its Editorial Board. When asked if Biden should run again, Maloney said “off the record, he’s not running.” Maloney was informed the conversation was on the record. Suddenly it was, “Uh, he shouldn’t run again.”
Don’t Look Now, but It Seems the 2024 Campaign is Underway
