The Brew: The Big Guy Facing Big Investigations as Pelosi Makes a Big Decision

By Al Perrotta Published on November 18, 2022

Happy Friday

We made it to the weekend!!

Before we start Brewing, I want to thank everyone who has given feedback on Tom Gilson’s article. It included Tom doing an audio version of his piece. So far the reviews have been positive … except for the guy who complained there was “not enough cowbell.”

I can say it is a safe bet we’ll be doing this far more often.

House Republicans Take Aim at ‘The Big Guy’ With New Investigations

The Big Guy is on notice. House Republicans unleashed a withering fury of allegations against Joe Biden and the Biden family Thursday, including the shocking charge that Joe Biden personally had a 10% stake in a Chinese effort to bust the U.S. natural gas market.

Rep. James Comer and Rep. Jim Jordan laid out the case of how Biden was intimately involved in his son Hunter’s overseas business dealings, despite his persistent denials. Comer says the Biden, Inc., activities were rife with “waste, fraud and abuse,” including influence peddling, money laundering, tax evasion and even human trafficking.

Comer talked about how scores of international financial transfers were repeatedly flagged as suspicious by some of the biggest banks in America and the Treasury Dept. You could say there were more red flags than a May Day Parade in Moscow. Which would be ironic given how many transfers involved Elena Batarina, the Putin confidant and wife of the late Moscow mayor.

This is not about Hunter Biden and his personal proclivities, Comer repeated. “I want to be clear. This is an investigation of Joe Biden.”

The White House reacted by saying the Republicans were promoting “long-debunked conspiracy theories,” claiming the GOP was engaging in “politically motivated attacks.” Sorry, Joe. Couldn’t hear you over the sound of your FBI barging their way into your political opponents’ homes. And the only thing debunked is Joe Biden’s claim he knew nothing about what Hunter was up to.

Meanwhile, Rep. Jordan accused the FBI of interfering in four elections: 2016, 2020, 2022 and already 2024. In terms of 2020, Jordan specifically mentioned how the FBI lied about the Hunter Biden laptop in pushing Facebook to quash the story.

Nancy Pelosi Steps Down From Democratic Leadership

“I will not seek reelection to Democratic leadership in the next Congress.”

Nancy Pelosi may been knocked out of the Speaker’s chair, but she was not about to let the GOP think they pushed her into retirement and out of The Swamp. In an emotional speech Thursday, Pelosi announced that she is stepping down from party leadership, but she is not retiring from Congress. Instead she’s going to continue representing San Francisco. Clever move when you think about it. Deny the GOP the satisfaction. Retire sometime next year when the parade has moved on.

I mean, really. Does anyone think Pelosi really wants to return to being your average member of Congress? After the hills she has climbed, battles she has fought, glass ceilings she has broken? To say nothing about a husband recently brained with a hammer?

Pence ‘Forgives’ Trump for ‘Reckless’ Talk on January 6

Former Vice President Mike Pence says he “forgives” Trump for his “reckless” talk on January 6, which Pence claims put him and his family in danger. (Doesn’t sound like the former VP has spent much time paying attention to the timeline of events that day.)

Pence told CNN — the same CNN that spent four years lying about the Trump-Pence administration — “I pray for the grace to forgive Trump and those responsible for” Jan. 6.

Pence says he told Trump in their last meeting that he repeatedly prays for him. But since January 6, they have gone their separate ways. The former VP is coy on whether he’s going to jump into the 2024 race against his former boss.

Imagine That: After Midterms, WaPo Reports Trump Wasn’t Peddling Nuke Secrets and Wasn’t Holding Docs at Mar-a-Lago for Any Nefarious Reason

Ninety days before midterms, the FBI launched a massive raid on Mar-a-Lago, going through every inch of Trump’s home, including Melania’s closets, looking for documents. The leaks from the FBI told of Trump having nuclear secrets, of being up to no good with illegally kept documents. My gosh, our national security was in danger!

But now the midterms are over and suddenly the tune is changing. The Washington Post now reports the FBI found no evidence Trump planned to sell or use the documents in any inappropriate way. Instead the Feds found the reason Trump kept the documents was “largely his ego and a desire to hold onto the material as trophies or mementos.” The sources told WaPo “The former president seemed motivated by a basic desire not to give up what he believed was his property.”

Yes. The Mar-a-Lago raid was a nothing burger with a side of baloney. What’s the first law of Snake News? Every story about Trump that has the media hyperventilating will be proven false, usually within 24 hours. In this case, it took us getting past Election Day.

The WaPo story is behind a paywall. Here’s a nice recap from PJ Media.

Along The Stream

Speaking of the Washington Post, yesterday the rag published an article about our publisher James Robison supposedly ripping Donald Trump during a meeting with Christian leaders. The point, of course, is to try and push the idea that even the evangelical leaders who were with him are now turning away. Now a former Trump spiritual advisor?! Wow. Oh, my!

Having worked with James for 8 years now, and knowing what I know about him and Trump and how he talks and how he thinks, I knew right away this was a hatchet job, taking his words out of context. I was right. We … and likely James himself … will have more to say on this.
