The Brew: Hundreds of Thousands Gather to Honor Charlie Kirk with Vigils and Liturgies Nationwide

By John Zmirak Published on September 22, 2025

On Sunday, in Glendale, Arizona, supporters of Charlie Kirk and his organization Turning Point USA gathered in staggering numbers to mourn his death and recommit to his mission of preserving faith and freedom. More than 100,000 citizens filled State Farm Stadium, with 70,000 more in a neighboring arena — while according to some estimates, an overflow of 130,000 more flooded the streets.

Headline speakers included Donald Trump, Jr., Tucker Carlson, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, according to Gateway Pundit, which was one of many media that streamed the event for an audience of millions.

The White House published a tribute to Kirk on social media with highlights of his public events:

Kirk’s friend Eric Metaxas went to join the mourners. I spoke to him on the phone as he changed planes in Dallas, and his tone was sober. We’re meant to grieve, he reminded me, to process the pain that afflicts us in a fallen world. But the Christian virtue of hope calls us to see what’s eternally real: “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.” (Psalm 116:15) Kirk never would have shrugged off the murder of any person, but he also would have rejoiced that a person died in faith, en route to the Lord.

If we remember the frenzy that leftists whipped up in the wake of career criminal George Floyd’s death while he was resisting arrest, it’s quite remarkable how wholesome, hopeful, and fundamentally Christian the Right’s reaction to Kirk’s political murder has been.

Evangelicals are gathering for worship services. Catholics and Orthodox are holding liturgies that honor and pray for the dead. Tens of thousands of young people are contacting TPUSA to start new local and campus chapters. Kirk’s example, as Metaxas said on his radio show, is galvanizing believers and patriots as the death of Nathan Hale did in 1776.

As a man of faith, Kirk made sure his life displayed a balance of prayer and action. Let’s do the same, lifting up our wounded country to the Prince of Peace Himself and then rolling up our sleeves for the tough tasks that lie before us.

Here are some powerful highlights from the all-day ceremony:

And here’s the entire 10-hour event, on Kirk’s own network, Real America’s Voice:

Leading Democrats Vote Not to Honor Kirk, “Squad” Members Trash His Memory

Not that the Left is making it easy for us to take the high road. A majority of Democrats opposed a House of Representatives resolution honoring Kirk. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) gave a speech distorting Kirk’s views and accusing her colleagues of “bringing great pain” by passing it.

On CNN, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minnesota) said that Kirk’s Christian, conservative beliefs belong “in the dustbin of history,” a phrase popularized by Karl Marx.

But not all the craziness is on the mainstream Left. Some of it is accumulating on the fringe, Jew-baiting Right. Former TPUSA associate Candace Owens has spent the days since Kirk’s hideous public murder making everything about herself.

Owens has been pushing conspiracy theories about Israel and pro-Israel donors, whom she accused of trying to bully and control Kirk. Her claims have been debunked by multiple close friends and associates of Kirk’s, who were forced amid their mourning and frenzied activity to respond to Owens’s assertions. After days of back-and-forth on social media, Owens announced that she would be skipping Kirk’s memorial to spend time with Ye (formerly Kanye West).

Something tells me nobody missed her.

Armed Leftist Militia Tries to Hide Members’ Names

Last week, President Donald Trump announced that he would issue an executive order designating Antifa as a “major terrorist organization.” Apparently that put the fear of God into similar violent groups, which have operated with impunity for years and been implicated in atrocities. The Post Millennial reports:

A group called the Socialist Rifle Association, made up of over 10,000 members, has been conducting training for socialist and transgender extremists, and the group has now been linked to four major crimes, according to an investigation from the Daily Wire. As the report has been published, the leadership on their website appear to have attempted to hide their names.

As the report from the outlet was released this week, the leadership link on their website has been redirected to the music video for Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up,” in a move commonly known as a Rick Roll. However, archives of the website as of August 14 this year still display the names and contact information of the leadership officers in the organization.

According to the investigation from the Daily Wire, members of the Socialist Rifle Association get membership cards with the quote, “Any attempt to disarm workers must be frustrated, by force if necessary,” with a picture of Karl Marx. They stock up on rifles and other gear. A common logo used by the group is the transgender flag with the phrase “defend equality.” However, the videos presented by the group do not look like they are training for self-defense, but for combat.

The report listed the crimes to which members of the Socialist Rifle Association were linked, including an armed attack on ICE officers and attacks on Tesla dealerships.

Armed Imposter Dressed as a Cop Busted at Kirk Memorial

These people aren’t just LARPing. The threat, alas, is real. Lifezette reports:

An armed man impersonating a law enforcement officer was taken into custody at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, the site of a major public memorial for slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk….

The Secret Service confirmed Saturday that the man, whose identity has not yet been made public, was detained Friday after entering the stadium and displaying suspicious behavior.

The Lord alone knows what new horrors we might have seen on live TV if the Secret Service hadn’t been on high alert. One alert citizen noticed something unprecedented (and alarming) about Kirk’s memorial:

The crowd at Kirk’s memorial offered a massive shout-out to the Secret Service agents who were present to protect them in a moment that speaks volumes about the condition of our country. Can you imagine anyone thinking to cheer the armed security at a memorial service in 2015?

Jimmy Kimmel Was a Big Fan of Censorship

Leftists and libertarians are squealing about ABC’s decision to fire the low-rated, unfunny Jimmy Kimmel after he spread divisive, provable lies about Kirk’s murder — then not only refused to back down, but intended to go on air to double down.

As we explained here last week, TV networks using public airwaves as government-granted monopolies aren’t given free rein by the First Amendment because they legally have to operate “in the public interest.” That’s why they can’t broadcast hardcore pornography and shouldn’t be permitted to make their programs into massive, in-kind donations to one political party.

It’s too bad that Sen. Ted Cruz, of all people, doesn’t understand this. He condemned Trump’s Federal Communications Commission appointee Brendan Carr for allegedly pressuring ABC to kick Kimmel off the air, comparing Carr to a “Mafia boss,” according to the New York Post.

Maybe Cruz isn’t the man to represent Texas in the Senate — especially since he’s so creepily unpopular even among conservatives that every six years he comes close to losing to some radical leftist Democrat in his home state, and sometimes even with Trump on the ballot. There’s a primary election coming up in just two years. Will someone step up to challenge Cruz from the Right?

As Kimmel plays the martyr, let’s not forget that he has been enthusiastic inquisitor when the whip was in his allies’ hands:
