The Brew: Hold That Breakfast Croissant. RFK Jr.’s Coming to Make America Healthy Again
Happy Friday!
Today’s Brew opens with another doozy of a Cabinet pick from President-Elect Donald Trump.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Named Secretary of Health and Human Services
Sixty-four years ago, Robert F. Kennedy’s appointment to be U.S. Attorney General caused quite the fuss. “President Kennedy is appointing his brother?!!” This morning, JFK’s nephew is raising a fuss as well. “President Trump is putting Kennedy in his Cabinet?” These are words one couldn’t imagine hearing six months ago.
And yet here we are. Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. has been named secretary of the Health and Human Services Department, tasked with the mission to “Make America Healthy Again.”
Said the president-elect and former McDonalds employee:
The safety and health of all Americans is the most important role of any administration, and HHS will play a big role in helping ensure that everybody will be protected from harmful chemicals, pollutants, pesticides, pharmaceutical products, and food additives that have contributed to the overwhelming health crisis in this Country. Mr. Kennedy will restore these agencies to the traditions of gold standard scientific research, and beacons of transparency, to end the chronic disease epidemic, and to make America great and healthy again!
I am thrilled to announce Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as The United States Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS). For too long, Americans have been crushed by the industrial food complex and drug companies who have engaged in deception, misinformation, and disinformation when it…

The announcement immediately sent the stocks of Big Pharma plunging.

Satirical Site The Onion Purchases Alex Jones’s Infowars at Auction
The Onion satirical site has purchased Infowars. The media home of Alex Jones was forced into auction as part of the judgment against the conspiracy-minded host for his comments about the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting. The amount of The Onion’s winning bid was not announced.
The Onion plans to turn Infowars into a platform for humorists and satirists. The gun-control organization Everytown for Gun Safety will be the “exclusive launch advertiser,” they said in a statement:
Everytown will continue to raise awareness on InfoWars’ channels about gun violence prevention and present actual solutions to our nation’s gun violence crisis, including bipartisan, common-sense measures and public safety initiatives backed by Everytown.

The View Wants to Add Pro-Trump Hosts?
For years, The View has only allowed “conservative” hosts onto the show who were hostile to Donald Trump, from Meghan McCain to Alyssa Farah Griffin, as an alleged counterbalance to the four liberal hosts who loath Trump and his supporters with their entire beings.
However, sources tell the New York Post that ABC network execs are in a “panic mode” after the election and are aiming to put pro-Trump voices on The View and other network programming. However, a network insider is pushing back on the story, telling Fox New Digital:
“There is definitely a network-wide push and sense of responsibility to give a voice to the 75 million people who voted for Trump. But The View didn’t have a pro-Trump voice for the entirety of his first presidency. Meghan McCain and Abby Huntsman were both loyal conservatives, but both expressed that they didn’t personally support Trump. It’s no different this time around.”
However, the source expects “Trump officials will be invited on in 2025.”
Leave it to The Babylon Bee to bring these two stories together. “To Improve Trustworthiness of the Hosts, ‘The View’ To Replace Whoopi Goldberg With Alex Jones.”

Is the Legal Tide Turning?
Two federal judges have postponed criminal trials for J6 defendants, saying the incoming Trump administration could make the legal proceedings unnecessary. They don’t want to waste court time and resources on trials that may not happen, given Trump’s promise to pardon J6 prisoners. Politico reports other judges trying J6 defendants are moving ahead with their cases, saying their courts can’t operate on the “potential” of Trump granting pardons.
Meanwhile, the griping over Matt Gaetz being named U.S. Attorney General continues. The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway wants the critics to shut up.
“To see people who did next to nothing as DOJ absolutely obliterated rule of law over last decade, or gave the softest of criticisms, now losing their minds over nominations is oddly enraging. Had they cared then, they would have no reason to scream now.”

Is the Green New Deal Scam Turning?
Trump is set to dump the $7,500 federal electric vehicle credit, Reuters is reporting. Removing the credit will be part of a larger tax-reform package.
Gotta Keep Funneling Money to Ukraine
Don’t worry, Ukraine. Secretary of State Antony Blinken wants to assure you he’s going to keep funneling money your way until noon on January 20.
BLINKEN: “President Biden has committed to making sure that every dollar we have at our disposal will be pushed out the door [to Ukraine] between now and January 20th” pic.twitter.com/wSoBolJSaX

Blinken said at a NATO meeting in Brussels that the U.S. will be sending as much military aid as possible to Ukraine, ensuring that it “has the money, munitions, and mobilized forces to fight effectively in 2025, or to be able to negotiate a peace from a position of strength.”
The fact that Blinken is talking about military aid in the context of strengthening Ukraine’s negotiating position seems like a tacit understanding that the day is rapidly approaching when Ukraine and Russia will get serious about ending this war. Or perhaps more accurately, NATO will get out of the way of a potential peace deal, and the spigot for U.S. tax dollars heading over there will be shut off.
Trump has long insisted he could put a quick end to the Russia-Ukraine war. During his debate with Joe Biden in June, Trump even claimed he’d have it settled by the time he takes office.
Wouldn’t a peace agreement by Christmas be something?
