The Brew: FBI to Review Cases That Flunk the Smell Test: January 6 Pipe Bombs, Cocaine in White House, and Leak of SCOTUS Dobbs Decision

By John Zmirak Published on May 28, 2025

The pointy end of the Deep State remains the FBI, which the Biden administration politicized relentlessly by aiming it at peaceful pro-life activists, election integrity protestors, and PTA moms who questioned transgender “grooming” at public schools.

Even as the agency aped the East German Stasi by hunting down Biden’s critics, it dropped the ball (or worse) on major cases of straight-up law enforcement. Now President Donald Trump’s appointees are digging through some of the major cold cases the FBI bungled or deep-sixed. The New York Post reports that Dan

Bongino, a former NYPD officer, Secret Service agent and conservative commentator, revealed on X that he and bureau Director Kash Patel had decided to “either re-open, or push additional resources and investigative attention” to the discovery of cocaine in the West Wing during the Biden administration, the leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion overturning Roe v. Wade, and the planting of pipe bombs outside the Democratic and Republican national committees hours before the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

Out of all those, the pipe bomb mystery seems the most consequential. Revolver News has been gnawing this bone for four long years, asking awkward questions. As that dogged news site noted earlier this month:

Of all the unanswered questions surrounding January 6, none are more explosive or more ignored than the so-called DNC and RNC pipe bomb plot. And we can see why. After all, we’re supposed to believe that a coordinated terror attempt happened in the most surveilled city in America. Yet the FBI, with its treasure trove of resources and massive surveillance dragnet, still can’t track down a suspect who was caught on tape several times.

It’s a hard pill for most Americans to swallow.

Meanwhile, the FBI had no trouble identifying and prosecuting peaceful Trump supporters. Some of them were elderly MAGA grandmas strolling through the Capitol, escorted by police, yet they were hunted down and charged like ISIS terrorists. However, a would-be bomber captured on video? That dude just vanished into thin air.

Do Patel and Bongino have a prayer of cleaning up the deeply compromised FBI? Intercessors for America has one for them and their team:

Lord, we ask You to strengthen and guide the FBI. We pray that this move would leave the bureau stronger than ever before.

Our Terror-Friendly Elites: Harvard University

You read here last week that the Trump administration has declared war on Harvard — pulling federal contracts, banishing its foreign students, and threatening to tax its massive ($53.2 billion) endowment. Predictably, pearl-clutching followed about Trump’s attack on “academic freedom.” But Trump’s move is both politically smart — aimed at unsympathetic elites — and morally principled.

Harvard has led the charge in moving American academia into the fever swamps of radical leftist activism, up to and including defending Hamas’s terrorism. The university defies court rulings and the Civil Rights Act through its aggressive affirmative action and DEI programs. Harvard alum and hedge fund billionaire Bill Ackman detailed his support for Trump’s moves in a long, detailed post on X, calling on Harvard’s board to comply with the administration’s orders or resign. Ackman’s thumbnail explanation of why DEI is evil is particularly worth reading:

DEI as implemented at Harvard is a political advocacy movement that advocates and executes on behalf of certain groups that are deemed oppressed under the DEI methodology. Under DEI, one’s degree of oppression is determined based upon where one resides on a so-called intersectional pyramid of oppression where whites, Jews, and Asians are deemed oppressors, and a subset of people of color, LGBTQ people, and/or women are deemed to be oppressed….

As a result, according to DEI, capitalism is racist, Advanced Placement exams are racist, IQ tests are racist, corporations are racist, or in other words, any merit-based program, system, or organization which has or generates outcomes for different races that are at variance with the proportion these races represent in the population at large is by definition racist under DEI’s ideology. But rather than being anti-racist, DEI and its ideological framework are profoundly racist and illegal, and an important contributor to what has gone wrong at Harvard in recent years.

DEI has poisoned Harvard admissions practices as evidenced by Harvard being found in violation of race-based admission practices by the Supreme Court. It has led to the decline of excellence and meritocracy at Harvard, both in the student body and in the faculty. It has allowed antisemitism to explode on campus where chants for “Free, free Palestine, from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” and “Globalize the intifada” were dismissed as viewpoint diversity and free speech “depending on the context” by the previous Harvard president despite repeated warnings that such calls for global violence would lead to innocents being harmed.

Will Harvard cave and admit that it is in fact subject to American law? Not if the school’s legal strategy is any indicator. Instead of searching for ways to actually try to comply with federal laws, Harvard launched a barrage of vindictive personal lawsuits against members of the Trump team, as Ackman recounts:

Harvard has chosen … to personally sue Secy of HHS RFK, Jr, AG Pamela Bondi, Secy of Education Linda McMahon, Acting Administrator of the GAO Stephen Ehikian, Secy of Energy Chris Wright, Defense Secy Peter Hegseth, Secy of DHS Kristy Noem, Director Todd Lyons of ICE, Secy of State Marco Rubio, and the Directors of the NSF and NASA. When one brings a lawsuit against an individual when litigation against an entity would legally suffice, it is done to intimidate, harass, and/or waste the time of the target. Harvard had no legal need to bring personal lawsuits against these public servants, but it did so anyway out of spite.

How many voters will shed a tear if Harvard has to sell off a few of its buildings? On the other hand, federal judges care very deeply what Harvard thinks of them, so expect more lawless injunctions on that school’s behalf.

Israeli Diplomats’ Alleged Murderer Worked for Elite-Funded Marxist Nonprofit

In case you’re not yet convinced that we’re facing spiritual warfare against principalities and powers, check out this report from The Washington Free Beacon:

The 30-year-old suspect in the slaying of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D.C., was, until the middle of 2024, an employee of a left-wing nonprofit underwritten by some of the country’s largest philanthropic foundations that claims to be devoted to chronicling the lives of “historically significant Black Americans.”

Elias Rodriguez, an anti-Israel radical and longtime left-wing activist, was arrested on Wednesday evening at Washington, D.C.’s Capital Jewish Museum shortly after shouting, “Free Palestine!” and “I did it for Gaza!” Moments earlier, Israeli embassy staffers Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim were gunned down at close range, witnesses told police.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Rodriguez worked as an oral history researcher from March 2023 to July 2024 at The HistoryMakers, a nonprofit that claims to be “committed to preserving and making widely accessible the untold personal stories of both well-known and unsung African Americans.” His biography was removed from the organization’s website Thursday morning….

The HistoryMakers is underwritten by left-wing philanthropies, including the Ford Foundation, which has provided at least $1 million to the nonprofit since 2024, $500,000 of which was awarded in March. The MacArthur Foundation has also provided the group nearly $1 million since 2003, including $500,000 last year. A partnership with PBS resulted in several hours of programming aired on the publicly funded network.

Are you shocked that radical leftists are using “antiracism” as means of nurturing terrorists in our midst? Not if you remember that the anodyne-sounding group Black Lives Matter was run by people who called themselves “trained Marxists.”

Guns Don’t Kill People. We Do

Not that the Left is in any way ashamed or abashed by Rodriguez’s actions. Quite the contrary. Look what the once-wonkish and apolitical Wired magazine is now publishing:

How do you think the journalists teaching readers how to make guns and emulate assassin Luigi Mangione vote on gun-control laws? Do they support politicians who wish to gut the Second Amendment?

Of course they do.

Antifa Attacks Christian Worshipers, Seattle Mayor Blames the Victims

When leftists show you who they are, believe them. They may want “free” love and free abortions, but they don’t want the free exercise of religion, as Seattle’s mayor made clear.

Don’t Miss Protestia

Every Christmas, news media offer helpful reports on U.S. defense satellites allegedly tracking Santa Claus’s progress from the North Pole. Much of the time, we here at The Stream seem to be offering the same service for the Gadarene Swine as their demons goad them to drown themselves in the sea — especially woke clergy and prelates, who think they know better than Scripture what is right and what is wrong. We don’t really enjoy having to report all this insanity, but sometimes it’s important to know what “new gospels” today’s Simon Maguses are preaching. In the past we’ve recommended Woke Preacher Clips, but now we’ve found a new bubbling fountain of goof in the form of Protestia. Check out the latest nugget it turned up:

Now, that’s some inspired preaching. Too bad the spirit behind it is apparently Jezebel.

Along The Stream…

Speaking of the FBI and high-profile, unsolved cases, don’t miss this electrifying interview former mafioso Michael Franzese did with Deep State whistleblower Mike Benz. They explain why Jeffrey Epstein’s client list may never see the light of day.

Did you know that the Church is not just thriving in tyrannical, jihadist Iran, but actually growing? Iranian-born Christian Lana Silk tells you how and why, and what the American Church could learn from our persecuted brethren.
