The Brew: Bud Light Exec and Bed Bath and Beyond Go Bye-Bye After Going Woke

By Al Perrotta Published on April 24, 2023

Note: This Brew has been updated to clarify that Bed Bath and Beyond’s demise began before it’s parting ways with Mike Lindell under pressure from leftist cancel culture activists.

Happy Monday!

We’re pouring out a big cup of Brew today.

So …. ? Have You Taken The Great Stream Reader Survey?

A huge and hearty thanks to those of you who have already taken the survey. Pretty fun, right?

The survey went up Thursday night, and you can find links to it on any Stream article, including the Brew. Stream email subscribers should have gotten an email as well with a link.

The link will be active seven more days.

Go Woke, Go Home: Bud Light VP of Marketing Out After Dylan Mulvaney Debacle

The Bud Light senior exec behind the disastrous Bud Light partnership with trans activist Dylan Mulvaney is out. Alissa Heinerscheid, who started the gig in June, has taken a “leave of absence,” AdAge reported Friday. She’ll be replaced by Budweiser global marketing VP Todd Allen.

It is unclear if the move is permanent, or whether Heinerscheid will remain with the company. But when you lose your bosses billions of dollars and loads of good will, you’d have to be a presidential appointee to keep your job.

While we take no glee in Heinerscheid losing her job, we can note that at least Bud is showing some accountability for trying to go woke and slapping the face of their core customers. Accountability is a rare thing.

(Right, Mayorkas? Buttigieg? Austin? Yeller? Blinken?)

Meanwhile, here’s an interesting twist to the Mulvaney story. He was spotted out and about over the weekend … apparently taking a breather from playing a girly-girl.

Go Woke, Go Broke: Bed, Bath and Beyond Files for Bankruptcy After Dumping Mike Lindell

Barely two years after loudly dumping “My Pillow” because of Mike Lindell’s belief that the 2020 election was stolen, Bed Bath and Beyond is going out of business. The chain has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, it was announced Sunday. The 360 existing stores will remain open for the time being as the company tries to sell off its assets.

The company caved to pressure from leftist activists who accused Lindell of being an “insurrectionist.”

Yes, Bed Bath and Beyond’s troubles started before the 2020 election. Amazon was cutting into their business. More recently, according to CNBC, the company’s has “struggled to maintain relationships with its vendors and has been grappling with low inventory levels, lagging sales and a rapidly dwindling cash pile.” Efforts to turn things around have failed. Still, you can’t tick off a bulk of your core customers without paying a cost. Just ask Bud Light. Just ask Fox News.

And now the company that sells pots and pans and toasters is cooked, and can cry in their Chinese-made pillows. Though we do grieve for those who are losing their jobs … and pray other corporations are coming to understand things don’t seem to go well when you cave to the woke mob.

Biden Going to Announce Candidacy on Tuesday?

Joe Biden will officially announce he’s running again perhaps as early as Tuesday, Reuters and other outlets are reporting. On Friday, Biden said “We’ll announce it relatively soon.” Biden’s re-election bid comes as a new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows only 39% of American voters approve of the job he’s doing. Some 54% disapprove. More to the point, a new Associated Press/NORC poll shows fully 73% of voters don’t want him to run again, including 52% of Democrats. And 76% of Democrats under 35.

A sure sign Biden is running? The Democrats won’t be holding any debates, the Washington Post reported Thursday.

Also, don’t expect a live speech from Biden. His announcement will be via video.

Will they be able to hide Biden away in 2024 as they did 2020?

Sec. of State Tony Blinken Behind Scam Letter by IC Officials Branding Hunter Laptop “Russian Misinformation”

When the Hunter Laptop story broke, 50 former top level intelligence officials published a letter declaring the evidence on that laptop of Biden family corruption a “Russian disinformation campaign.” They threw in wiggle words like “appears to be” but the intent was clear. These 50 intelligence officials, including CIA Directors and National Security Advisors wanted to use the power of their former titles — and with it the suggestion they had access to information the public didn’t — to protect Joe Biden and overthrow President Trump.

These betrayers of the national trust — these usurpers of free and fair elections — didn’t just wake up and decide, “Hey, it’s a nice fall day, let’s declare a laptop we know is legit to be false.” They were wrangled and corralled, former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morell confessed to House investigators. Brought together and encouraged by then-Biden advisor Anthony Blinken. The man who is now Secretary of State. A man now running a war against the same Russia he conspired to falsely accuse of planting evidence against Joe Biden.

Put aside for a second, the egregious abuse of power and the fixing of the 2020 election by the officials. How can anything Blinken says today as Secretary of State about Russia … or for that matter, China be trusted?

Evidence on that laptop points to how Biden and his family were in the pay of the Communist Chinese. Not incidentally, the same Communist Chinese that had anonymously plunked $54 million into the Biden Penn Center run by … you guessed it, Anthony Blinken.

On Thursday, the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees called on Blinken to testify on his role in deceiving the American public.

Meanwhile … a possible hint why Biden has pushed up his plans to announce a run.

Hunter Biden Possibly Facing Four Charges

Federal prosecutors are reportedly considering this week pressing four criminal charges against Hunter Biden. NBC News reports:

The possible charges are two misdemeanor counts for failure to file taxes, a single felony count of tax evasion related to a business expense for one year of taxes, and the gun charge, also a potential felony.

Sources tell NBC News there is “growing frustration” among the rank and file about the lack of prosecution. The IRS finished its investigation a year ago, and the Washington Post reported way back in October that agents “believed they had gathered enough evidence to charge Hunter Biden with tax crimes and a false statement related to a gun purchase.”

Last week, an IRS whistleblower accused the Administration of interfering in the agency’s investigation.

It’s a Family Affair

Also last week, House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer revealed their investigation has turned up six more Biden family members who benefited from Biden, Inc:

The Biden family enterprise is centered on Joe Biden’s political career and connections, and it has generated an exorbitant amount of money for the Biden family. We’ve identified six additional members of Joe Biden’s family who may have benefited from the Biden family’s businesses that we are investigating, bringing the total number of those involved or benefiting to nine.

Two GOP Representatives also claimed to have seen evidence in the banking records of Biden family involvement in human trafficking. This would have to do with Hunter’s use of hookers tied to foreign crime syndicates, and Joe (wittingly or unwittingly) footing some of the bill. Rep. Comer talked about it last November. “The SAR shows that Hunter Biden was conducting business with suspected human traffickers. The money gained through influence peddling was funneled to a suspected criminal enterprise, again, one linked to human trafficking.”

Why mention the family? Because Hunter is only the tip of the iceberg. Charge Hunter with some minor league offenses to keep the dogs off the Big Guy. With Biden suddenly a candidate again, any further efforts to get to the truth will be dubbed “political” and an effort to influence the 2024 election.

Tucker Carlson at Heritage Gala

Our friends at the Heritage Foundation celebrated their 50th anniversary with style over the weekend.

At a gala Friday night, keynote speaker Tucker Carlson spoke of how we are no longer two sides debating policies on how to achieve a common goal. Instead, we are dealing with supporting what is good or what is evil. It was a powerful statement, which you can read all about here.

Or catch the flavor with this clip.

In the end, Tucker admitted that we’re dealing with a spirit of evil in this nation. We cannot fight back with policy. We fight with prayer.

“I’m an Episcopalian, and even I am saying it might be worth taking ten minutes out of your busy schedule to say a prayer for our future.”

Along The Stream

We take it back to school.

And coming up at 8 Eastern, I head back to the high school tennis courts and the day I squared off against a female player in an official school match. “The (Mis) Match of the Sexes.”
