Sunny Side of The Stream: Crash Witnesses Rescue Family of Four From Submerged Vehicle

By Aliya Kuykendall Published on December 10, 2022

Happy weekend!

Two men rescued a family, including two small children, on Dec. 7 from a vehicle that was submerged in a canal.

A press release from Louisiana State Police praised the men for their heroism:

Due to the thick mud and marsh, the occupants of the Toyota were unable to open the doors and exit the vehicle.

Jeff Lapeyrouse of Bourg witnessed the crash, quickly pulled over, and rushed to help. Mr. Lapeyrouse entered the water, was able to successfully open one of the Toyotaโ€™s doors, and removed all four occupants to safety. Only minor injuries were reported in the crash.
