Late last week, President Trump commuted the three-year sentence for Roger Stone. Stone was convicted (by a biased jury pool) of lying to Congress and other charges brought by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. He was to report to prison this week.

Fox’s Sean Hannity of Hannity spoke with Stone Monday about how Stone dealt with the charges and conviction. Stone thanked Rev. Franklin Graham and pastors Mark Burns and Darrell Scott. He also thanked Dan Coggins, of Northside Bible Church in Florida. Those pastors helped his family “through the scariest, most difficult process you can imagine.”

But more than the pastors, Stone credited God for making it through. “I really want to thank God because I was literally hours away from being sent to a COVID-infested prison,” he told Hannity. The 67 year old has had a lifetime of respiratory problems and faced what he called, “a near-death sentence.”

“More than anything else, I’m grateful for God,” Stone said. “Because, as you told me, if I would rededicate my life to Christ, if I would be reborn, He would — I can remember it like it was yesterday. Your advice was as solid as can be, you said, ‘God would never desert you, He will never abandon you, He will protect you, if you confess your sins and you walk in His way.’ And I have done my very best to do that.”

Stone said he’s not sure if he will appeal the sentence in hopes of clearing his name, but he will review options with his attorneys.
