Pro-lifers Organize ‘National Day of Protest’ Countering Planned Parenthood’s ‘Day of Action’ All Across the Country

Fed up with the ghastly undercover videos being released by the Center for Medical Progress, revealing how Planned Parenthood sells fetal body parts, pro-lifers are planning a “National Day of Protest” at roughly 650 Planned Parenthoods around the country tomorrow, August 22. At the same time, Planned Parenthood supporters will be holding their own “Day of Action” at major Planned Parenthood locations.

The purpose of the National Day of Protest is to  “raise awareness of the heartless and even illegal activities of Planned Parenthood by going to where the killing and harvesting of body parts from aborted children takes place,” in order to “put pressure on the media, both local and national, to report the truth about Planned Parenthood, and on government officials to stop funding this discredited organization.”

Created Equal President Mark Harrington and Pro-Life Action League Executive Director Eric Scheidler said in an email explaining the need for the protest, “[Planned Parenthood] sites is where the killing and organ harvesting is actually occurring (especially the mega-centers).”

Major political figures, from members of Congress to pundits, are expected to speak at the events. The main sponsors are Created Equal, the Pro-Life Action League, 40 Days for Life, and Citizens for a Pro-Life Society. There are also about 55 co-sponsors. The protest will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the various locations.

The opposing rally will feature Hollywood celebrities who are part of the #StandWithPP campaign.

The pro-life protests are expected to bring out more people than the pro-Planned Parenthood counter-protest. The US Congress and several state governments are investigating Planned Parenthood and many are calling for an end to public funding.  The public perceptions of Planned Parenthood have suffered over the last month. Even a major purchaser of fetal tissue, StemExpress, which has also been subject of the Center for Medical Progress videos, has cut all ties with the abortion provider.
