Let’s pray that the summer of 2015 will become a positive watershed moment for our country.

It’s now undeniable that the powerful elite in America worship at the altar of abortion. And abortion is one jealous, insatiable golden calf — a tyrant if there ever was one.

The Center for Medical Progress has just released the ninth of its videos, in which a “procurement manager” for a biotech firm frets that “they’re trying to make abortion illegal, and that’s where we get our tissue.” Together, these videos have given us an unprecedented view inside the grotesque world of the abortion industry.  We’ve been confronted with the knowledge that our tiniest babies are butchered en masse. To add insult to injury, their body parts are then sold for still more profit.

We’ve heard Planned Parenthood officials talk about “line items” and “intact cases” and techniques for strategically crushing a baby’s body. We’ve seen the pie plates full of blood and pieces of babies, and watched Planned Parenthood clinic workers pick through them with tweezers. Oh look, it’s “another boy!” We saw, and gasped in abject horror, when the small child laying on the table, whole in body, moved arms and legs. Yes, that child was still alive.

And we saw perfect little hands. Tiny, dismembered hands.

I say “we” saw and heard all this, but the infuriating reality is that much of the country has not seen or heard. And what little they have seen and heard has been carefully sanitized — all blood and body parts removed, all references to sales and profit excised — and presented to them as another “Republican attack on women’s rights.”

Most of the major media has refused to show the public any of this bloody horror.

No, when faced with the carnage of dead babies, with the desire for “50 more livers a week,” with pronouncements that nice, “smooth portions of liver” are “good,” neither our major media, nor our President, nor many of our elected officials have the integrity to call it what it is. All they can do is bow and scrape before the abortion tyrant.

Nancy Pelosi insisted Planned Parenthood has done nothing illegal because they say they haven’t. They are to be trusted implicitly. She did call for an investigation, however: “Let’s have an investigation of those people who were trying to ensnare Planned Parenthood in a controversy that doesn’t exist.”

The White House has repeatedly defended Planned Parenthood, extolling their “high ethical standards.” They haven’t watched the videos, but again, PP is to be trusted implicitly.

The Obama administration has joined in condemning CMP and the videos and has vowed to thwart every effort to end the annual half-billion dollars of taxpayer money going to Planned Parenthood.

The New York Times has dutifully taken up Planned Parenthood’s cause, echoing Cecile Richards’ deceptive rhetoric about women’s access to health care and the great, selfless contribution PP makes to science with all that fetal “tissue.” (Like I said, this is how abortion advocates will try to make abortion seem noble again. The cure for some dread disease depends on our willingness to butcher babies in the womb so we can use their “tissue” for experimentation.)

For most Democrats, the Obama administration and the media, the only victim is poor, poor Planned Parenthood.

They want us to pretend we didn’t see the tiny dismembered hands. Better yet, to pretend those tiny dismembered bodies don’t even exist, to pretend that Planned Parenthood is a benevolent health clinic and that abortion is a minuscule little dot in the canvas of their great work. They want us to take Planned Parenthood at their word that they operate under the highest ethical standards and follow every law to the letter, and to pretend that millions upon millions of women would suffer without Planned Parenthood and all the services they provide.

But there’s a problem. All of those claims are demonstrably false.

We know that they fail to report the rape of underage girls. (See here, here, and here.)

We know that community health centers all over this country are able to provide all the health services PP offers and much more, and these centers outnumber Planned Parenthood 20 to 1. We now know about the baby body part vendors’ payoff to clinics.

But so far, this knowledge has had little practical effect. The attempt in Congress this past month to redirect the money funneled into Planned Parenthood toward community health centers — clinics that provide much more comprehensive care to women and children — was defeated by PP’s loyal subjects in the name of “women’s health care.”

The insatiable abortion tyrant demands to be fed, and the present Administration is happy to provide. So happy, in fact, that the federal government will punish states that direct funding away from Planned Parenthood by cutting the state’s Medicaid funding by the same amount.

It’s not about healthcare or women’s access. It’s about abortion, the untouchable sacrament of liberal secularism. The Obama administration may be vague and unreliable when it comes to support for allied Israel, for instance, but the loyalty to Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry is a revered vow.

The gruesome horror of the Planned Parenthood videos, however, is a great gift to our nation. It gives us the chance to collectively rouse ourselves, bravely stare down the truth and, for once, not deny it.

This is our moment, after four decades of legal abortion and 58 million children killed, to finally admit that this isn’t freedom or justice for anyone. A civilized nation does not butcher defenseless babies. Decent people do not devise strategies for crushing a preborn baby. Honest people do not rely on the terms “fetus” or “tissue” to desensitize them to the humanity of the child in the womb. Good people simply cannot abide slicing a baby’s face open with scissors to remove her brain.

There is only tyranny for a land that builds an entire mega-million dollar industry around the killing of preborn babies. Such a jealous and insatiable tyrant will never be satisfied with bargaining and compromise. It can only be overthrown.

Defunding Planned Parenthood is an important step but it will never be enough. Every abortionist in the country needs to be out of a job.

The ultimate goal here must be abolishing the evil of abortion in America. Roe Must Go.
