A Message to the LGBTQ Community

By Janet Boynes Published on January 4, 2022

We want to reach out to every person that has been labeled or identified as homosexual, lesbian, gay or whatever identity you choose. If you are in the closet, proudly parading your sexuality or still trying to figure it out, this is for you.

The Christian faith has received a bad reputation from many in the LGBTQ community. We will not make excuses for anyone who has demonstrated behavior that degraded and dehumanized anyone in the name of Christianity. A true believer in Christ will always operate in love and will never condone behavior that will cause harm to anyone for any reason. The reality is that there is absolutely no one in any ministry or church that can claim perfection. One sin may differ from the other, but in the sight of God, “All have sinned and come short of his glory” (Romans 3:23). There is absolutely no one who can declare they have it all together.

We Have the Right to Disagree and Still Love You

We want to be absolutely clear that according to our faith, founded on what we believe the Bible says, we acknowledge that homosexuality is against the will of God. We are not going to sugar coat our faith and go against God just to please anyone. We are aware that this type of stand is viewed by the LGBTQ community as an attack against their rights. They view the Christian church as insensitive and out of touch with the changing culture. They want the church to water down their beliefs in order to embrace their lifestyle.

In essence, the gay community wants the Christian to change their beliefs so that they can be comfortable even if it makes the Christian uncomfortable.

This is in direct violation of the rights that a Christian has to exercise what they believe. In essence, the gay community wants the Christian to change their beliefs so that they can be comfortable even if it makes the Christian uncomfortable. Some have done just this, but for those that choose to exercise the right to stand against this sin, we align with them in their right to do so. We have the right to disagree. We have the right to express that disagreement and still love you and show you love without the requirement of relaxing our faith.

God Gives Us Choice

Our stand against homosexuality doesn’t diminish your choice to live how you want. Our stand is indicative of what we believe God is saying in order to live a life of freedom and fulfillment. Your choice remains yours throughout your entire life. God never forces us to do anything we do not want to do. You are free to live the way you want until you die. That is your choice. A true Christian that accepts Christ as Lord makes a conscious decision to let Christ be Lord over their lives. We believe that our life in Christ is the best life that can be lived. We are excited about it and want to give God our best because He gave His best. He loves all of us unconditionally, regardless of what we have done or the life we have lived. We share it with everyone, no matter what their sexuality, not to take away the rights, but to open up a pathway to love, peace and joy. We want every person, whether they are practicing homosexuality, to experience the love of Christ. We make no apologies for wanting to share God’s great gift of love.

We Trust God’s Will Because He Created Us

The change in our life is so wonderful and so exciting that we cannot help but to share it with you. Even when things go wrong or do not work out the way we want, we still rest in the fact that Christ lives in us and will take us through. We do not have to walk this life alone. Our surrender to Jesus is our choice and privilege because of His great sacrifice that He gave to us. We willfully and wholeheartedly release our will to God and give Him authority. We trust His will and His plan because He created us. We know that He will not lead us astray.

So to all of you who have been scarred by over-zealous Christians and those that reacted negatively in the name of Christ, we understand your pain and hostility. However, we will not stop sharing this wonderful love that has been extended to us through Christ. We will not be silenced as we stand against all sin. We reach out with the sincerest love to the LGBTQ community to let you know that we are here and we love you. Jesus is here to love on you through us. Our freedom is solely a benefit of the power and grace of God and we reach out to you to let you know that through Christ, you can be free.
