Women, Tired of Being Treated Like Cattle? Then Stop Mooing!
I read a recent article from the Independent with a mix of exasperation, nodding agreement and a double face-palm. A trial of a male contraceptive drug has been halted due to unpleasant side effects like mood swings, depression, weight gain, loss of libido and acne. Just about every woman in America over age 18 knows that litany of complaints very well. And those are just the “minor” side effects of the Pill, the patch, the IUD, the implants and all the other chemical contraptions the medical establishment pushes as “women’s health care.”
The author of the Independent piece, Anna Rhodes, very rightly recognizes the double-standard right off the bat:
But the trial of the drug has already been halted — because just 20 of the men (out of 320, don’t forget) found the side effects of the injection intolerable and it was decided that more research needed to be done to try and counteract them … How sad for these poor men — they couldn’t handle the side effects that so many women have to deal with every day just to avoid an unwanted pregnancy. Women have had to bear the responsibility of contraception since the pill was first launched in 1962 – and all of the side effects that go along with it.
Rhodes also points out the very serious, even life-threatening side effects of hormonal contraception that many women have been suffering for decades: migraines, heavier menstrual periods, DVT/blood clots, stroke, cervical cancer and breast cancer:
The risks of the combined pill are numerous, and taking it is not a pleasant thing. But women have taken this burden on for more than 50 years to allow their relationships to develop without the risk of pregnancy.
Missing the Truth by a Mile
Rhodes is so close to the whole truth, but still missing it by a mile. Women have indeed been shouldering an unfair burden in their relationships but it has not allowed those relationships to develop without risk. Rather, it has allowed men to further use women for their own gratification while evading responsibility for their actions. It has encouraged men to see women as objects for sexual pleasure and not companions to cherish; not people to protect and respect. And it has caused both men and women to see the child in the womb as a threat to be eliminated and led to the mass slaughter of our preborn children. Rhodes says:
I don’t blame the men who dropped out of the trial for doing so. I blame the medical establishment for treating women like cattle who can deal with the risk of cancer and blood clots to avoid the world being populated by unwanted babies, yet aren’t willing to let men suffer even a slight headache to the same end.
Is it really that hard to see how the contraceptive mindset has poisoned our relationships and led to the collapse of the human family? Rhodes is saying that sex leads to “the world being populated by unwanted babies,” so women must risk blood clots and cancer in order to prevent that.
First, I hate to state the ridiculously obvious, but sex is supposed to lead to babies. That’s the point.
Second, does it never occur, to anyone, that labeling babies “unwanted” is a defect on our part, in our thinking, in our hearts? That it is the obligation of the adults to ensure that babies are welcomed and received as gifts; the natural, intended fruit of the marital act? It’s not a preventative device we need, but a greater reverence for human life and respect for the marriage bed.
Does it also never occur to anyone that there are healthy, effective and moral ways of avoiding pregnancy that do not require women to risk their lives or compromise their dignity? Nor do they create an imbalance of responsibility between men and women.
Stop Mooing!
In reply to Rhodes’ comment that she blames the medical establishment for treating women like cattle, I can only say, then stop mooing! Stop letting yourself be treated like cattle. Stop buying the poison they’re selling you, and stop believing that you need it in order to be free and happy.
Women deserve real health care that respects the female body in every way. That care exists.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: the only environment you can pollute with total impunity these days is a woman’s body. Carcinogenic, steroidal, artificial hormones are not health care. They are not progress for women. They certainly do not allow for an “equal” relationship with men. They are inherently misogynistic. (Don’t believe me? Exhibit A is this comment to Rhodes’ article from a man called mujibar: “It could be argued that it’s your body, your choice, so it’s your responsibility.”)
So stop lining up for it. Good grief — here in America, women have spent the last 4 years demanding free birth control from the government, and are now in a tizzy because they fear losing their precious, free birth control that they insist they are entitled to; the very same unpleasant, risk-laden contraception the insulting medical establishment makes them take, even though it causes depression and blood clots and cancer. Moooo….
Ladies, c’mon. Your steaks and chicken breasts have to be organic, but you’ll gladly swallow the hormones yourself? Why should anyone care about the inequity of contraceptive methods when women are so willing to shove copper wires in their wombs? Think about it: how logical is it to complain about all the trouble and danger the nasty hormones cause you in one breath, and then demand to be given a steady supply of the nasty hormones for free in the next breath? Moooo…
Rhodes is right to object to the blatant unfairness of contraception, but she missed the forest for the trees. Women are their own worst enemy in this regard. But we don’t have to be. There are ways of managing fertility and yes, avoiding pregnancy, that don’t endanger a woman’s health or devalue the child in the womb. Women deserve real health care that respects the female body in every way. That care exists, and it’s called NaPro Technology.
Any woman wanting to manage her fertility naturally, or needing help with a reproductive disease or ongoing gynecological problem can truly be helped with NaPro Technology. Unlike typical doctors, NaPro physicians will not prescribe artificial hormones that simply mask the symptoms of a problem and do nothing to actually treat it or bring any healing. NaPro doctors are trained in getting to the root of the problem and treating the actual medical issue. That’s health care that is honoring to women. Absolutely no bull.
