What Companies Fund Planned Parenthood? Watchdog Group 2nd Vote Has Released a List
On October 5, 2016, 2nd Vote, the self-described “conservative watchdog for corporate activism,” released a list of companies that directly or indirectly support Planned Parenthood. 2nd Vote compiled the list as a way to inform consumers who hold pro-life values and may not know how their purchases go on to fund the abortion organization.
Following the Center for Medical Progress’ release of undercover videos last year showing top Planned Parenthood executives discussing the sale of aborted baby body parts, 2nd Vote released the first list of Planned Parenthood contributors. According to 2nd Vote, 25 percent of Planned Parenthood’s $1.3 billion in yearly revenue comes from private and corporate donations. This year’s list includes 37 companies that directly fund Planned Parenthood and 200 companies that indirectly fund Planned Parenthood via 3rd-party groups. 2nd Vote’s Executive Director Lance Wray told MRC Culture that his organization “researches and publishes only hard and reliable data.”
“It scours over public records, official corporate reports, and other indicia of corporate sponsorships and public endorsements to which 2nd Vote cites within its findings,” Wray said, adding that much information may be found on corporate websites.
As Planned Parenthood, the “largest single provider of abortions in the United States” performing over 300,000 abortions per year, prepares to celebrate its 100th anniversary this Sunday, 2nd Vote encourages consumers to vote with their dollars and hopefully “turn the tables on this national tragedy.”
