Water for LIFE: How You Can Help Save Lives

By Nancy Flory Published on August 2, 2018

A mother sobs uncontrollably. Clutched between her arms is a picture of a baby girl. Sheโ€™s grieving over the recent loss of her daughter who died after drinking impure water.

Sad as this story is, it’s common among the worldโ€™s poor. Though we in the West take clean drinking water for granted, nearly 700 million people still lack access to pure water. One of the most common effects of drinking contaminated water is diarrhea, a leading cause of death in children under age 5.

The Stream’s parent organization, LIFE Outreach International is doing something about it. This year, LIFE Outreach’s Water for LIFE program will drill its 6,000th well. That means LIFE Outreach, with the gracious help of friends like you, has been able to provide access to clean water for over 6 million people. But the need is still great. Hundreds of millions still lack clean water. Our goal this year is 400 new wells and you can help.  Help us turn pictures of grief into pictures of health.
