WATCH: Announcer: ‘We Will Not Be Playing the National Anthem.’ Crowd Sings It Anyway

By The Stream Published on October 15, 2020

This crowd wouldn’t let a technical difficulty stop them from singing their patriotism.

“Due to technical difficulties, we will not be playing the national anthem,” the announcer said. “Let’s play ball.”

Players of two girls softball teams had been prepared to sing, but following the announcement those who had been lined up walked to the bench as their teammates prepared to play.

Then the crowd began singing the national anthem without any music. One team ran back on the field with their coach and lined back up with their hands over the hearts. After singing The Star Spangled Banner, the crowd cheered.

A channel called THE SILENT MAJORITY MEDIA posted the video on YouTube Oct. 13 without indicating when the video was taken. It appears to be in pre-pandemic days, but the American message struck a cord with commenters. One wrote: “This literally gave me chills and almost a few tears! I’ve never been so proud to be an American!! Go USA!!”
