Trump Threatens PGA After They Pull Out of Trump Golf Course Deal

"If I become your president, this stuff is all going to stop.”

The PGA Tour announced Wednesday that it was moving a tour date of its elite World Golf Championships from South Florida to Mexico City, beginning in 2017. The tournament has been played at Dural, which Donald Trump purchased in 2012, for 54 years. PGA Tour commissioner Tim Finchem insists the move has nothing to do with the GOP candidate’s politics.

Still, Trump responded to the anodyne announcement with an angry threat, warning that “all this stuff is going to stop” if he becomes president.

The Professional Golf Association is a private organization that decided to end its deal with the Trump-owned Doral golf course, making a new seven-year deal with Grupo Salinas in Mexico City. Instead of negotiating, Trump took his anger to a political rally.

“They moved the world golf championship from Miami to Mexico City. Can you believe it?” Trump asked the crowd at a rally in Sacramento on Wednesday. “Not good. But that’s OK. Folks, it’s all going to be settled. You vote for Donald Trump as president, if I become your president, this stuff is all going to stop.”

Trump did not explain what, exactly, he would do to force a private company to remain in a business agreement with one of his enterprises.
