Tim Tebow’s ‘Night to Shine’ Prom Spotlights Kids With Special Needs
The Tim Tebow Foundation will host former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow’s favorite night of the year Friday — the fourth annual “Night to Shine.” Its a prom for special needs kids where the kids are treated like “kings and queens.”
The event changes lives, Tebow said in a video on his website. It’s not just a night where they get to dance, ride in limos or walk down red carpets, he pointed out. “It’s so much more than life,” he added, “because maybe for the first time, they realize that they’re worth it. They realize that they’re special. They realize that they’re loved. There’s not much more important than that.”
Tebow said his passion is helping “the least of these,” and that includes special needs kids. “We are trying to make them feel like they are the kings and queens,” he said in a Fox News interview. “I know that’s how God sees them, and that’s how we should see them.”
Tebow will make surprise visits at various locations. He said he hopes that, at the end of the night, the kids realize how much God loves them and that He has a special plan for their lives. “We get to show that with how much we love them,” he said.
This year, 175,000 volunteers will help put on the event at 540 churches in 16 countries. The kids will enjoy royal treatment with hair, makeup and shoeshine stations, dresses, tuxedos, corsages and boutonnieres. 90,000 honored guests are expected to attend.
