Tim Keller, best-selling author and founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, has passed away. He was 72 years old.

Keller announced in 2020 that he had stage four pancreatic cancer. After a three-year battle, Keller was released Thursday from the hospital to have hospice care at home, Fox News reported

Redeemer Presbyterian Church announced on its website Keller’s passing:

Timothy J. Keller (September 23, 1950 – May 19, 2023), who was the founding pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City, co-founder of Redeemer City to City, and the author of several books, died at the age of 72 on May 19, 2023, trusting in the sure and certain hope of the resurrection. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his three sons and their wives, a sister, and seven grandchildren. A live stream worship service followed by a memorial will be held in the coming weeks. More details will be provided at timothykeller.com.

Bruce Terrell of the Redeemer Network Leadership Team told Fox News:

We are forever grateful for his leadership, heart, and dedication to sharing the love of Christ with others. While we will miss his presence here, we know he is rejoicing with his Savior in heaven.

Keller’s son, Michael, shared one of his father’s final prayers after entering hospice care. “I’m thankful for all the people who’ve prayed for me over the years. I’m thankful for my family, that loves me. I’m thankful for the time God has given me, but I’m ready to see Jesus. I can’t wait to see Jesus. Send me home.”

“Dad waited until he was alone with Mom,” Michael wrote. “She kissed him on the forehead and he breathed his last breath. We take comfort in some of his last words. ‘There is no downside for me leaving, not in the slightest.'”

Please keep the Keller family in your prayers.
