This Weekend, Go See the Powerful Faith Story Bonhoeffer, Eric Metaxas Urges

The Stream’s John Zmirak saw an advanced copy of the gripping new film Bonhoeffer, which traces how that brilliant theologian and courageous anti-Nazi activist found real, living faith in Jesus — even as the Christian leaders he’d learned from and looked up to made shabby compromises with a new, pagan regime that was persecuting God’s people, the Jews.

Bonhoeffer biographer Eric Metaxas is a huge fan of the film, and he’s doing all he can to urge people to make the Angel Studios production a hit during its crucial opening weekend (November 22-24). Zmirak recently interviewed Metaxas about the film, its significance to American Christians, and what we must learn from the mistakes believers made which allowed Hitler to hold on to power and commit his historic crimes.
