They Were Groomed by Todd Bentley … and Broke Free

In this 90-minute conversation, Rob and Millie Joy Radosti share with Wanda Alger their story of what went on behind the scenes during their decade-long relationship with Todd Bentley, a Canadian evangelist with a healing gift who was elevated by Morningstar Ministries. A full panel of 20 charismatic ministry leaders disqualified Bentley in 2020 for a longstanding pattern of immoral behavior, which included sexual abuse. Recently, Morningstar has come under a fresh round of fire for replatforming Bentley.

“These situations are way more complex than what you might think when you hear a news story come out,” says Millie Joy. “There were times we didn’t have money to pay our rent, and he’d just pull it out of his pocket.”

“What we didn’t realize at the time,” says Rob, “is that these are grooming tactics.”

When all their suspicions came to light in 2019 — long after the Radostis had separated themselves from Bentley’s ministry — they apologized on Facebook to the victims and asked for them to tell their stories. 

The results staggered even them. The Radostis, who remain in ministry and are the parents of six, have suggestions about what to do when abuse is discovered in ministry.
