‘I’ Is for Impeachment. ‘C’ is for What They Really Want.

Talking impeachment, the Russian business and waiting on the ghost of Barbara Jordan.

The Democrats and their media collaborators are now tossing the word “impeachment” around like horseshoes at a Memorial Day picnic.

On Wednesday, Rep. Al Green of Texas became the first member of Congress to take to the House floor to officially call for the impeachment of the President. But the catcalls for Trump’s ouster started before he was sworn in and has recently grown as loud and shriek-y as a stadium full of Justin Bieber fans.

Fire and Wine

A quick observation before we get to the meat of it:

On the way down to the Liberty University commencement last week I stopped at the Trump Winery in Charlottesville. I sampled the rosΓ©, had some delicious soup and bread, and overlooked the incredible rolling landscape. The thought struck me: “If I’m Donald Trump and folks are trying to toss me out of Washington, and this is the life I’d get to return to, have at it!”

Really. At the end of the day, what would the liberals win? Donald Trump returns to a dream life, a strong Christian conservative takes over the reins, and the ratings for MSNBC, CNN, SNL and Colbert take a nose dive. Seems they might want to think about this impeachment business a bit longer.

More seriously, the Crush Trump Cabal must understand that they are playing a dark and dangerous game. Since the last impeachment drama involved sex and cigars, blue dresses and soap opera subplots, it’s easy to take the matter lightly. Impeachment is not entertainment. It is a national agony. Even talk of impeachment is a paralyzing injury to the political process. You had darn well better be somber about it and not out to score political points or campaign contributions. Or guest shots on Rachel Maddow.

But today, we’re not getting somber. We’re getting soundbites and hysteria. According to McClatchy, Democrats are even preparing to poll test the public’s views on impeachment. Poll test? As if deciding whether a President committed “high crimes and misdemeanors” is the same as deciding who gets to advance on The Voice. What next? Miley Cyrus heading the DNC?

Still, let’s see what’s being said to justify the “I” word.

“Trump is in bed with the Russians!”

To what end? When Trump is found to have handed over to Putin 20% of our supply of a mineral vital to national security while pocketing millions from those benefiting from the deal, then call me. Until then, the score is Uranium One, Trump Nothing.

“Putin didn’t like Hillary!”

Neither did a majority of Americans. (Even many of those who voted for her, did so from fear of Trump) And if they’re all on Putin’s payroll I’d sure as Sunday they’d like to see the check.

Did he want to weaken the woman he assumed, like the rest of the planet, would be President? We can concede that. Evidence shows it. But that has nothing to do with Trump.

Did he even want to destroy her candidacy? The evidence suggests otherwise, as we’ll see below.

“Trump and Putin colluded to fix the election!”

After a year of snooping and surveilling and investigating … and imagining … there is still zero evidence it happened. Nada. Well, that’s not exactly true. Trump won. Since he wasn’t supposed to win, nefarious forces must have been at work. Cue ominous music.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California is typical. She admitted to CNN Thursday that she has not seen any evidence of any collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. But she is depending on the Special Prosecutor and other investigators to find it. Even Maxine Waters, when asked if actual evidence has actually been found said, “No, it has not been.” And this from a woman so far gone she thinks Putin came up with the “Lock Her Up!” chant. (Wait a day. Tomorrow she’ll say Putin came up with The Wave.)

But let’s play along. What exactly do they mean by collusion anyway? What do they think Trump and Putin actually did? After the 1980 election, Democrats peddled the idea that the Reagan campaign made a deal with Iran to hold onto the hostages until after the election. The so called “October Surprise” theory. The fact the hostages were still in captivity clearly hurt Carter’s chances. And Carter did think he had a deal to free the hostages in place only to see it fall apart.

This time, the Democrats aren’t even offering a serious scenario of how this supposed collusion played out. (“But what about WikiLeaks?” I said “serious.” And please read Rachel Alexander’s column on Seth Rich.)

“But, but, but … MICHAEL FLYNN!”

Democratic pundit Krystal Ball was on Tucker Carlson’s show the other night. Her argument went this way: Flynn lied to Vice President Pence. The Russians knew Flynn lied. Ergo, he was susceptible to blackmail. Sally Yates warned the President of this. Because the President waited to fire Flynn rather than drag him out of the White House at that very instant he deserves to be impeached.

By this logic, Hillary Clinton would have had to be impeached on her first day. Her private server, including those 30,000 deleted emails, had been compromised by Russia and at least four other nations. Russia did not release the goodies. Ergo, they were holding them as blackmail against what would have been the new President. I don’t recall Sally Yates running anywhere to warn of the danger. Nor any of the Democrats peddling this line of argument today.

“But, but, but, but … OBSTRUCTING JUSTICE!”

But what about “the Comey Memo?” What about the “nut job” quote? Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe tells us there wasn’t been any obstruction and their investigation hasn’t been slowed down one bit by James Comey’s firing. McCabe was under oath. The leakers are under the cowardly cover of anonymity.

But does it even matter?

The Left’s End Game

A special prosecutor has been named. Did it quiet the Crush Trump Cabal? No. The goal line instantly moved. Now they’re screaming for an independent panel. That will not be enough either.

If former FBI Director Mueller doesn’t serve up Trump’s head on a plate, the cry will be that he wasn’t independent. If he actually looks into the surveillance and illegal unmasking surrounding this Russian business, he will be called a stooge of Putin and child of Satan. The same fate awaits any independent panel.

We must be honest. Truth is not their goal. The cabal has but one aim: the removal of the nation’s duly elected President, Donald J. Trump, by any and all means necessary. A cabal so eager to shout the “I” word will have little trouble whispering the “C” words:

Coup d’etat.
