The Brew: Trump’s Team Shares Secrets with Leftist Anti-Trump Smear Merchant

By John Zmirak Published on March 26, 2025

If you saw your dad sending information about his bank account to some exiled Nigerian prince, would you step back out of loyalty and let him make his own mistakes? Probably not.

Likewise, as much as we love the many good things President Donald Trump has tried to do so far — many of which are currently being blocked by petty judicial tyrants — it’s our duty as loyal supporters as well as citizens to speak up when his team undermines him.

Do you remember when Pope John Paul II forgave Mehmet Ali Agca, the Turkish terrorist who’d shot him and almost killed him? It was a moving gesture when the pontiff visited the would-be assassin in prison. But what if John Paul had insisted on skipping the hospital and rushed, wounded and bleeding, to offer a hug to the shooter while he was still holding his weapon? The Swiss Guard would have stopped him. After all, there’s a difference between Christianity and idiocy. (That distinction eludes those who claim that Christianity demands open borders, pacifism, socialism, or universal celibacy. Screwtape eggs them on, of course. It’s his job to convince us that the Gospel amounts to a suicide cult in the hopes that we’ll abandon it.)

Likewise, after all that Donald Trump and his supporters have been through at the hands of our callous, possessed elites, it’s suicidal foolishness to try to curry favor with leaders of the Left, whether in government, academia, or media. Trump 2.0 himself seems to understand this ugly truth. He’s not doing foolish interviews with Lesley Stahl or Bob Woodward anymore, or fancying that he can negotiate with Democrats, the way he once did with race-hustlers like Al Sharpton to ensure that his buildings would be completed.

But not everyone on Trump’s team seems to have assimilated the lessons of escalating Anarcho-Tyranny learned over the last eight years. For some reason, someone on the staff of National Security Advisor Mike Waltz was playing footsie with one of the worst journalists in America: Jeffrey Goldberg, editor of the smug, consistently dishonest magazine The Atlantic. (“Disappointing dental patients in waiting rooms since 1857.”)

If you appreciate The Stream archives, please consider supporting the outreaches of LIFE.

There’s no other sane explanation for why Waltz included Goldberg on a supposedly secure text message exchange preparing for U.S. military responses to the Houthi attacks on merchant ships in the Persian Gulf. Nothing actually classified was revealed in the discussion, according to Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard. No Americans were harmed as a result of the leak, which Goldberg didn’t publish until after the U.S. military action was complete. And Trump himself defended Waltz yesterday — though he was not at all kind to Goldberg, whom he referred to as a “sleazebag” who works for a “failed magazine.”

But don’t get all misty-eyed about his patriotism here. Goldberg wasn’t just involved in fabricating the claim that Trump called U.S. war dead “suckers and losers”; he actually helped previous administrations lie to get us into the Iraq War by spreading the bogus idea that Saddam Hussein was involved in planning the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Failures of this magnitude, include the failure to vet and control one’s staff, must have immediate consequences if Trump’s second term isn’t to descend into the same cascade of backstabs, leaks, and slow-walking that paralyzed his first term. Read this analysis at The Conservative Treehouse for more on how serious this Goldberg incident really was.

Sorry, Dad. Prince Ngombo isn’t going to send you $10 million. Now I’m just going to shut your laptop and make you a cup of coffee.

Disney’s Leftist Remake of Snow White Bombed Big, and Deserved To

Here’s a sample from Revolver News’s take on the dismal response (both commercial and critical) to Disney’s latest effort to highjack and forcibly transition a classic Western folktale into a tale of feminist empowerment:

Mirror, mirror on the wall, what’s the wokest train wreck of them all?

Answer: Disney’s “Snow White.” Or should we say, Snow Woke and the Seven Virtue Signals—a painfully modern, unwatchable attempt to reimagine a classic fairytale into a limp, progressive sermon with goofy-looking CGI dwarves and zero charm….

[L]et’s call it what it is: a $330 million faceplant on Main Street, USA. And no, not even the magic kingdom can survive that kind of ideological collapse.

The reviews are in—and they’re brutal. We’re talking a literal fairy tale bloodbath.

  • “Lazy, visually repellant.” The Independent
  • “Exhaustingly awful.” The Guardian
  • “Disney has trashed its reputation.” The Times
  • “A strange, hot mess.” – Huff Post
  • “Listless.” ScreenDaily
  • “Good enough… for TV.” Vanity Fair
  • “Film has a major identity crisis.” BBC

That wasn’t a movie. It was a progressive hostage video.

Just to put this into context for regular people and not just movie reviewers: The film cost roughly $300 million to make — before marketing campaigns, premier party costs, etc. As of yesterday, it had grossed $87 million worldwide, and had a scintillating rating of 1.8 stars out of 10 on iMDB. By contrast, the original Snow White film — the animated feature Disney released in 1937 — has a current iMDB rating of 7.6.

Talk about some rotten tomatoes. Once again, wokeness = brokeness.

January 6 Survivor Announces Run for Rubio’s Old Senate Seat

For years I have been saying that the GOP needs January 6 survivors to get elected to Congress — just as some of the leaders of the Boston Tea Party (“insurrectionists”) ended up in the Continental Congress. Now that just might happen, if Florida voters do the right thing.

The Guardian reports (disapprovingly) that Jake Lang, who was recently pardoned after a long, unjust incarceration, is running for Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s vacated seat.

“I’m running, really, as a kind of a symbol of resilience and the American spirit of perseverance, and more importantly than anything, of those things as a testimony to what faith can do to turn a dead situation and make it alive again, just as God had done for his own son, Jesus Christ, in the tomb,” Lang told the Guardian.

As to whether he has a shot to win the race, he said: “It’s the same chances I had of leaving that prison cell the way I did. We are in God’s hands, and God has opened up a door for me and my brothers to leave the prison cell. And I believe that God will provide again.”

Run, Jake run! The senators who abandoned an inquiry into election fraud and hid under their seats as little old ladies took selfies in the Rotunda deserve to be forced to face you at work, day in and day out.

Judge Who Ordered Planes Full of Gangbangers Turned Around Wanted Harsher Punishments for J6 Protestors

Judge James Boasberg is very concerned about the civil liberties of foreign gang members illegally present on U.S. soil. But he doesn’t seem to care much about the free speech and due process rights of actual citizens — at least, not when they disagree with his desired election outcome:

What’s Causing the Birth Dearth and the Decline of Romance? Phones

I don’t usually read left-coded Vox, but this essay is interesting, especially since it tries to be nonpartisan. Addressing the decline of marriage, childbirth, and even illicit extramarital sex around the world, the author suggests that single people are losing the skill of actually socializing in person. Instead of leaving the house and going to public places to congregate with other humans (including those of the opposite sex), more and more young people are meeting their social needs by interacting with total strangers on their phones.

One alarming finding cited in the essay is this:

[O]ver half of 18- to 34-year-olds are neither in a steady relationship nor living with a partner. Furthermore, most single Americans don’t feel much pressure to find a partner. Half say they’re not even looking.

Maybe all those church socials some people are always organizing are more important than we realized.

An Airtight Case on Why the Church Doesn’t Demand Open Borders

We report here frequently on the outrageous statements of Pope Francis and U.S. Catholic bishops who long rode the USAID gravy train, demanding that Western countries admit unlimited numbers of unvetted immigrants, then support them on government programs (which church-linked agencies just happen to profit from, to the tune of $3 billion over 15 years). The arguments such prelates make are always weak, sentimental, and full of logical holes. But Catholic philosopher Edward Feser has done the world a favor by proving that such arguments aren’t even Catholic. The church has never taught such unbiblical and irresponsible nonsense. Feser provides the receipts.

Along The Stream…

Later today, don’t miss Part 2 of the riveting story of election integrity activist and filmmaker David Clements and his battle against the legal and academic establishment, which answered his calls for transparency with persecution and lawfare.
