The Brew: Trump’s Election Already Having an Effect at Home and Abroad

You mean even more effect than when he was serving yummy fries three short weeks ago?

By Al Perrotta Published on November 8, 2024

Happy Friday!

I hope you are as happy today as Joe Biden was yesterday when coming out to talk about Donald Trump winning the election. Usually you only see him that gleeful when he’s talking about his Corvette.

More on Biden in a minute.

Trump’s Election Already Having an Effect … or At Least It Seems So

The decisive election of Donald Trump is already having an effect internationally. Kinda like how in 6th grade, my classmates and I would quickly sit up straight when we could hear Mrs. Lester was coming down the hall.

Greg Price laid out on X all that has happened on the world stage in the past 48 hours.

  • Steve Madden is halting manufacturing in China by half in a yr
  • Hamas calls for an end to the war in the Middle East –
  • The Iran backed Houthis announced a ceasefire. –
  • Putin said he’s ready to work toward peace

For Trump supporters, it may seem like Christmas has come early. And already we are seeing at least one sign that the season of woke is passing.

Target stores are saying “Merry Christmas” instead of “Happy Holidays” this year.

Obviously the retail chain’s planning for the holidays was completed long before Trump’s landslide victory. However, seeing their fortunes crash after their full-throated embrace of Pride Month, including merchandise geared towards transgenders, perhaps Target was feeling the change in the air.

I remember this time eight years ago, a couple days after the stunning 2016 election. The Stream’s John Zmirak was asked by some gob- smacked English publication to explain how on earth Donald Trump won. John wrote a typically brilliant essay of about 1,500 words, drawing on history and political philosophy, the rights of man. Great stuff. “John,” I said. “It’s a lot simpler than that. People are just sick of getting grief for saying ‘Merry Christmas.’”

Oh for those easy days. People are now sick of dudes pulverizing girls sports, minors being convinced to chop off or forever wreck their body parts, drag queens gyrating in front of youngsters, to say nothing of crime, illegal immigration, censorship, and chaos across the globe.

But again, it may come down to something basic: Americans are sick of being considered garbage.

Perhaps this Christmas we should chip in to get a gift for Joe Biden for saying the quiet part out loud and offering American voters a concise concrete presentation of how the two sides regard them.

Speaking of Joe …

Will Biden Offer a “Peaceful” Transition Like the One in 2017? Or Will He Play It Straight?

While Biden was gracious in his remarks about a peaceful transition, we cannot forget that eight years ago, his idea of a peaceful transition was using the bogus FBI Crossfire Hurricane investigation as a way of sabotaging the incoming Trump 45 administration. He was in the room with Obama and the rest when the matter was decided. It was Biden’s idea to use some law never enforced in over 200 years to go after then-incoming National Security Advisor Gen. Michael Flynn.

“One may smile and smile and be a villain,” political commentator William Shakespeare once said.

So let’s see if The Big Guy’s deeds end up matching his words. Right now, I’m guessing he’ll play straight. Who’d benefit if he doesn’t? The people who screwed him over by shoving him off the ticket. Trump may be “Hitler,” but Trump never personally shivved him in the back.

Serve up a warm and toasty transition and Biden gets to make a graceful exit from the stage, with the wind of Americans’ propensity for forgiveness at his back. Plus, by saying the actions his administration took will pay off in the coming years, he’ll be in a position to take credit for any of the good things that happen in the economy.

“Move to Canada” Searches Up 5,000%?

While we’ve yet to see any notable celebrities flee the country as promised, apparently a number of triggered Americans are at least looking into it. Internet searches for “move to Canada” and “immigrate to Canada” have jumped 5000%, according to Google data.

CNN’s cuddly media guy Brian Stelter quotes a talent agent as saying journalists in D.C. are considering bailing out of town, “questioning if they have it in them to report on another Trump cycle.”

Good. Create those openings. Washington should have a few more journalists that don’t hate the average American. A few more that don’t see themselves as forces for “change” rather than truth. Journalists who have been licking the Democrat boots rather than reporting the news should learn to code.

Another Explanation for What Happened Tuesday

All these Wednesday morning quarterbacks are spending their time and ink trying to explain what happened Tuesday night. Leave it to a real quarterback to make it simple. Former Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III posted the iconic photo of Trump with fist raised in Butler, Pa., with the caption, “The moment Donald Trump won the election.”

Do you agree?

Yesterday’s serving of Al’s Afternoon Tea featured “A Gracious Biden Speaks While Folks Put Music to Liberal Shrieks.”

Later this morning, Jason Jones and John Zmirak warn Trump against (a second time) hiring his enemies to work for him.
