The Brew: ‘No Tea for Me,’ Melania Reportedly Tells Dr. Jill
"Thanks, Doc, but I know the drill."
Happy Tuesday!
It should be a barn-burner following the three-day weekend right after the election.
For example, we should learn today whether Judge Juan Merchan is going to toss out the so-called “Stormy Daniels” felony conviction against Trump in lieu of the ruling delivered by the U.S. Supreme Court in July stating that sitting presidents have immunity for their actions in office, or do the bidding of vengeful Democrats and continue onto sentencing the president-elect later this month as scheduled.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris Attend Arlington Veterans Day Services Together
For the first time since the election, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris appeared together Monday, attending a Veterans Day service at Arlington National Cemetery.

Biden made a speech in which he called for unity and noted, “This is the last time I will stand here at Arlington as commander in chief.
“It’s been the greatest honor of my life to lead you, to serve you, to care for you, to defend you, just as you defended us, generation after generation after generation,” he said. “You are the greatest fighting force, and this is not hyperbole, the finest fighting force in the history of the world.” (On formal occasions Biden says, “This is not hyperbole,” rather than his stock-in-trade “no joke.”)

Given the fact that Team Biden and Team Harris are fully pointing the finger at each other for last week’s blowout, that must have been a very quiet ride from the White House.
Their presence together is a tribute to the nation’s veterans. Who else could have gotten them to appear in public together?
Is Melania Blowing Off Jill?
Melania Trump will not be having tea with current First Lady Jill Biden on Wednesday, the Daily Mail is reporting. Traditionally, the outgoing first lady hosts a tea for the incoming one while the president and president-elect meet, and Dr. Jill did extend the invitation. However, a source close to Melania told the Daily Mail, ‘Mrs. Trump is not going, and they have not spoken.”
While this has not been confirmed, one does have to wonder: Would you have tea with the wife of the man who arranged to have the FBI raid your underwear drawer?
(I know what some of you are saying: “Depends on the scones.”)
UPDATE: Was FEMA Scandal More Widespread Than One Supervisor?
Last week, a FEMA supervisor was fired after whistleblowers revealed she had ordered workers in Florida to pass over houses that had Trump signs or flags out front.
On Monday, Congressman Greg Steube (R-FL) alleged that Marn’i Washington was not acting alone, telling Fox News, “If it was happening in Lake Placid, it’s happening all across the great state of Florida. It’s probably happening in western North Carolina, probably happening all of the states that were hit by Hurricane Helene.” He alleges there are text messages from the District of Columbia to Washington “directing them to do this.” So somebody higher up within FEMA was advising the people on the ground.
The first stop in a House Oversight investigation, Steube says, must be Marn’i Washington.

From the big house to the statehouse.
Do you remember the story of Texas salon owner Shelley Luther? She became something of a COVID lockdown hero in 2020 when she reopened her hair salon in Plano before local officials said it was okay to do so. Luther was charged with contempt of court and sentenced to seven days in jail.
At that sentencing, Luther declared, “I have no choice. I need to feed my family, and my stylists could not feed their families.”
Her experience lit a political fire under the stylist, prompting her to later run for office. “I wasn’t super political before any of this, but I’m like, you know, somebody has to do something about this,” she said. “And so we ran for our first office shortly after that.”
On Tuesday, Luther won the race to represent District 62 in the Texas House of Representatives.
A Streamer Goes Home
This weekend brought us the sad news that longtime Stream senior editor Tom Gilson has gone home to be with the Lord. He passed away Saturday morning after a four-month battle with pancreatic cancer. A noted Christian apologist, Tom had an unyielding passion to help Christians not only understand apologetics, but to use that knowledge to bring the Kingdom of God alive for nonbelievers as well. As his writings over the years for The Stream demonstrated, Gilson brought his unique perspective to the issues of the day. His book Too Good to Be False is a sweet, powerful, poetic, and eye-opening approach to the divinity and reality of Jesus Christ. It’s a must for the book shelf of any believer.
I treasure the years we were colleagues, enjoyed the way he would gush about his wife and kids, duel with John Zmirak over which performances of classical works were keepers, or share tales of his days as a musician and with CRU. His subtlehumor, Midwestern demeanor, and great encouragement helped pull me through some tough days. His friendship and wisdom will be missed.
While we could mourn his passing, we know he would be absolutely giddy about coming face to face with his beloved Jesus Christ. I suspect his idea of Heaven is something like a coffee shop, where he not only could worship the Lord, but talk lovingly about Him for eternity.
Our prayers go out to the Gilson family and Tom’s wide network of friends and ministry associates.
