The video of the aftermath of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska’s stabbing on a train in Charlotte earlier this week is the most horrifying piece of footage to go viral in many years. It shows the young, helpless woman who’d been brutally stabbed without provocation sobbing and bleeding in her seat while her fellow passengers act as if nothing has happened. Not one tried to help her as she lay dying.
We have to ask ourselves, “Why not?” And we do have to wonder — despite how tragic and sickening the thought is — whether it was because the victim was white, unlike her attacker and all the onlookers in the video. The extended footage of the attack, which was censored, apparently reveals the killer bragging, “I got that white girl.”

Remember the video of George Floyd struggling under Derek Chauvin’s knee that went viral in 2020? This is worse, almost infinitely worse. In Floyd’s case, a large and powerful man high on a toxic dose of drugs resisted arrest for a serious crime, and was subdued by police in a manner that courts found employed excessive force. Chauvin, the main arresting officer, was imprisoned for murder — a charge that many consider grossly inflated. The officers who actually tried to restrain him also were imprisoned, perhaps unjustly.
When Americans saw that video, most were appalled — including the overwhelming majority of white people, who didn’t want to see cops who looked like them acting like Chauvin. A wave of outrage swept the nation, and radical leftist groups including Marxist Black Lives Matter and Antifa started violent protests that devolved into looting, burning, and pillaging. Leftists nationwide called for defunding the police — no matter the impact that would have on low-income, high-crime, disproportionately nonwhite neighborhoods. In fact, the cuts to policing which did result saw increases in violent crime against mostly nonwhite victims.

We won’t see a wave of “White Lives Matter” protests in the wake of Zarutska’s murder, though. We won’t see right-wing groups burning down low-income neighborhoods, or calls to defund social programs. But we probably will see a further erosion of sympathy among white Americans for the problems and concerns of their nonwhite fellow citizens and a growth in ethnic tribalism — if only out of a sense of being embattled, even hated.
It doesn’t help that state university presidents can openly talk about “eliminating whiteness” without losing their jobs, while DEI programs and even civil rights laws openly discriminate against white people for being white. And don’t forget the last president imported millions of nonwhite illegal aliens that judges won’t let the new president send back home.
This Left-driven, crime-ridden racial discord is tragic for the country and bad for our immortal souls. We ought to find solidarity first as believers, then as fellow Americans, and even as fellow sinners. Ethnic loyalty ought to be low down on the list of why we care about people. But the callous behavior of a train full of commuters who didn’t think a white life mattered will help encourage millions of white Americans to sink a little lower, if not quite to that level. Not yet, anyway. (God help us if this race to the bottom continues.) As someone whose family came from the former Yugoslavia let me tell you: This is how countries tear themselves apart.
Pray for peace among our fellow Americans, and some much-needed love of neighbor.

Massachusetts Tries to Snatch Baby from Foster Parents Because They’re Christians
But let’s not get all smug about how much better off we are than people in Europe. Blue state and city governments are every bit as far to the radical, anti-Christian Left as any jihadi-hugging Belgian socialist. Fox News reports:
Christian foster parents in Massachusetts are challenging a state policy that requires them to affirm and encourage the medical transition of children in their care who identify as transgender or risk losing their foster care licenses.
The lawsuit, filed Sept. 3, names two families — the Joneses and the Schrocks — who foster young children and infants.
Both families say they have either lost or are at risk of losing their licenses because of the policy, which requires foster parents to sign agreements to “promote,” “support” and “affirm” a child’s gender identity or expression.
The Christian families argue that complying with the policy would violate their religious beliefs.
According to the lawsuit, the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families plans to remove the Joneses’ 17-month-old foster daughter from their home. The child has lived with them since she was barely 2 months old.
The Schrocks, who have cared for 28 foster children over six years, had their license revoked in June after telling the state they could not comply with the policy.
Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), the religious liberty legal group representing the families, said the two households previously fostered 35 children and were in good standing before the new requirements.
According to the suit, Massachusetts did not previously require foster families to pledge verbal affirmation of a child’s gender identity. That changed between 2023 and 2024, when the state began requiring families to sign agreements to speak and act in certain ways, including affirming a foster child’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
If refusing to affirm transgender madness makes you an unfit foster parent, that’s just one legal step away from making you an unfit parent, period — and losing custody of your own biological or adopted kids. Of course, that’s already happening in California.

Trump Defends Religious Liberty at the Museum of the Bible
Trump is surrounded by people keenly attuned to protecting our religious liberty in the form of a commission he appointed specifically for that purpose. Yesterday he spoke to a meeting of that commission at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., and affirmed that he’s being vigilant on this issue. He even rejected the fraudulent claim that the Constitution demands a radical separation of church and state that divorces biblical morality from politics:

In a major gut-punch to Michigan’s Democrat activist Attorney General Dana Nessel, Governor Gretchen Whitmer-appointed Judge Kristin Simmins has ignored party allegiance and decided to put an end to the lawfare against 15 innocent Republican electors from the 2020 election, who cast an alternate slate of electoral votes for President Trump in a state where the stunning election results were highly contested by many.
The 8 felony charges against the 15 electors would have carried life sentences for most of them …. [emphasis added]
Recently, The Gatway Pundit shared a stunning video that showed MI AG Dana Nessel on a Zoom call with a far-left group, bragging about how, if the judge (Simmins) decides to send the alternate electors case to a jury trial, she’s set them up to be tried in the deep blue city of Lansing, where it’s very likely they won’t get a fair jury trial. In other words, Michigan’s top law enforcement officer is mocking these 15 mostly senior citizens who are entitled to a fair trial for not being able to receive a fair trial.
Michigan’s partisan hack AG Dana Nessel explains to far-left group how difficult it is to get the Republican 2020 alternate electors to flip on each other because “they legit believe” Donald Trump won the 2020 election.
Have you got that? The State of Michigan tried to impose life sentences not on murderers or rapists or human traffickers, but on law-abiding citizens who sincerely believed they were fighting election fraud, and enrolled as electors — and looked for a venue where they wouldn’t get a fair trial.
This is dark, Soviet-style stuff we face. Be vigilant. Pray hard.
