The Brew: Anhauser-Busch Heir Has a Solution to the Beer Giant’s Woes: Sell It Back to the Family

By Al Perrotta Published on August 18, 2023

Happy Friday!

Ever have a Friday where you really, really thank God it’s Friday? Where the “thank you, Lord” is drawn out in a long breath?

For those saying that today, this Brew’s for you.

Speaking of a different kind of brew, is there a pathway back to the top for Bud Light?

Anheuser-Busch Heir Says He’s Willing to Buy the Company Back

Billy Busch, an heir to the Anheuser-Busch dynasty, says he has a solution to the company’s woes: Sell the company back to him and his family. Anheuser-Busch was sold to InBev in 2008.

As you know, Anheuser-Busch’s fortunes had plummeted since its misguided partnership with trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney and its botched response to the uproar. Busch told OutKick’s Tomi Lahren he wants to purchase the company back. “’Sell it to me. I’ll be the first in line to buy that brand back from you. And we’ll make that brand great again.”

He says that InBev, as a Brazilian company, doesn’t understand who its core drinker is … unlike his ancestors who founded and ran the company for generations.

When you are a foreign company and you rely on these woke students that are coming out of these woke colleges to do your advertising for you, you’re making a big mistake. You need to go out there and understand who your core customer is.

(The Busch family) knew who their drinkers were. They were with the bar owners and the restaurant owners and the liquor store owners and talking to these people day in and day out.

No word yet on whether InBev is interested in Busch’s offer.

Off-Target: Pride Month Obsession Takes Toll on Target’s Second Quarter Numbers

Meanwhile, the bean counters at Target may be crying in their Bud Light. In an earnings call with investors Tuesday, Target revealed comparable sales in the second quarter dropped 5.4% and revenue was down nearly 5% from last year. It’s the first time in six years the company has seen a quarterly drop.

Analysts tied the Target downturn to their over the top, shove it in the customer’s face, Pride Month marketing. The company has lost roughly $16 billion in value since the Pride campaign was launched.

FOX Business’s Brian Brenberg raised a question about lasting damage. “I think their concern for Target, and for investors watching Target, is this backlash going to have an enduring effect on how people think about Target and whether they want to shop there?”

International Chess Federation Bans Males From Competing in Women’s Tournaments

The International Chess Foundation (also known as FIDE) is banning men who identify as women from competing in women’s only tournaments, pending “further analysis.” As CNN reports, a majority of FIDE events are “open play,” with only a few tournaments designated women only.

A question for chess experts: Can I change the King to Queen and move it anywhere I want?

Comedy Event Cancelled in Scotland Over Comedy Writer’s Position Against Transgender Ideology

An entire comedy event in Scotland was cancelled because one act, comedy writer Graham Linehan is a vocal opponent of transgender ideology. A popular venue in Edinburgh called The Leith Arches was set to host “Comedy Unleashed.” However, the trans activist mob raised an outcry and The Leith Arches caved. Organizers denied they were “influenced by pressure from online activists,” but said they were worried how this one performance would affect future bookings. And the obligatory and contradictory statement: “We have made the decision to cancel this show, as we are an inclusive venue this does not align with our overall values.”

Linehan took to X, otherwise known as Twitter:

There no explanation as to what views The Leith Arches find offensive. That women deserve single sex spaces and fairness in their sports? That children shouldn’t be mutilated and sterilised? That JK Rowling shouldn’t receive death and rape threats? Could I have some details? because it sure sounds like discrimination on the grounds of my legally protected beliefs.

The comedy writer told Talk TV the only good thing about the cancellation is that “it’s drawing more attention to the fact that essentially a group of highly ideological cultists have taken over institutions across society.”

House Oversight Demands Biden Records That Contain His Secret Pseudonyms

Joe Biden used pseudonyms to share government information with Hunter business associates while VP. And no, we’re not talking about “Brandon” or even “Dark Brandon.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer sent a letter to the National Archives requesting they turn over all communications they hold from Joe Biden tied to known Biden pseudonyms [email protected], Robin Ware and JRB Ware. The House also wants any emails CC’d to Hunter or Devin Archer.

According to Comer, Biden used the Robert Peters email when CC’ing Hunter’s business associates, including when scheduling secret calls to the then-President of Ukraine. Using the alias helped Biden dodge discovery of the messages under FOIA.

Judicial Watch Sues to Learn More About CIA’s Role in Deep State Laptop Smokescreen

After seeing its FOIA requests brushed off, Judicial Watch has sued the CIA. The watchdog group wants all communications within the CIA’s Prepublication Classification Review Board pertaining to an email sent to the PCRB by then-Acting CIA Director Michael Worrell. It was sent three days before the second presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. According to Judicial Watch, Worrell wanted the PCRB’s sign-off on that infamous letter from 51 “former” IC officials falsely declaring Hunter’s laptop Russian disinformation. Worrell told PCRB it was a “rush job.” A few months back, the organizer of the letter admitted the purpose of the letter was to have something Biden could use against Trump in the debate when he brought up the damaging Chinese allegations.

Are we catching this? This letter deliberately lying about Hunter Biden’s laptop, crafted solely to kill Biden corruption allegations that likely would have secured Donald Trump’s re-election was reviewed and approved by the Central Intelligence Agency. (As Tom Fitton notes, Congress already has evidence of the involvement of active CIA personnel in the letter.) Maybe I’m slow, but how is this not the CIA working to rig an election … of our own government? Treating our country, and its elected leader, like any other hostile or uncooperative leader they work to overthrow.

How is Trump asking for forensic audits of the 2020 election a crime and the CIA (and former IC officials) rushing to undermine that election not a crime?

Justice is not only tossing aside her blindfold, she’s doing more contortions than a performer in Cirque du Soleil.
