Sunday’s Special Day of Prayer for President Trump

Stream founder James Robison asks followers of Christ to join a nationwide prayer for the president.

I am honored to join Franklin Graham and 250 other Christian leaders in calling for a Special Day of Prayer this Sunday for President Trump and his family.

The Bible teaches us in 1 Timothy 2:2-3 to pray for those in authority, “that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.”

And I have prayed for presidents of both parties. I’ve actually prayed with several presidents. But in this case, I agree with Franklin that “in the history of our country, no president has been attacked as he has.” President Trump’s enemies have tried everything to destroy him, his family and his presidency. Regardless of partisan or political differences, this is wrong.

Yes, we all recognize the president is a fighter and he fights back. Yet he — and we —have to understand “we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12).”

In reality, this is a spiritual battle even more than a political one. The father of lies will attack any attempt by anyone willing to make the necessary course correction.

We pray the president and all national leaders recognize, as Franklin Graham says, “the only hope for him, and this nation, is God.”

This is a critical time for America. We’re on the edge of a precipice. We are, however, seeing miraculous answers to prayer, for which we as believers are so grateful. Pray for positive progress to continue as we ask God to protect, strengthen, encourage, and guide the president.

We are asking pastors to lead their congregations in praying for the president, that Sunday schools and life groups will join together and pray, and that families and individuals across this great nation will have a special focus on praying for President Trump, his dear wife, Melania, and the rest of the Trump family.

Will you please join us? God promises our prayers will not return void.
