Woke prophets of doom declare an apocalyptic end of Mother Earth if the demons of carbon are not cast out and fossil fuels sent into the abyss. The high priests of wokeism propagandize students in Ivy League citadels seeking proselytes only to make them twofold more the child of h*** than themselves. Drag Queen evangelists prance and preach before young kids in Tennessee inviting new recruits to come to the altar donating dollars into their panties. If wokeism is not a religion, it is most certainly a cult!

With the intensity of a Mongol horde, the Left has relentlessly assaulted religion and morality for 60-plus years. Cultural Marxists have worked at a frenzied pace in “key result areas” positioning their leadership to ensure collective wins. Peter Drucker calls an extraordinarily successful person at getting things done a “monomaniac.” The singular focus of Progressive monomaniacs can drive a common-sensed culture crazy with their strategy of chaos, deconstruction of moral values, novel word creation, and violence — while targeting conservative voices.

Gramsci’s Key Targets

The work and writings of Antonio Gramsci (1891-1937), an Italian Marxist, laid the foundation for much of the Marxist thought and strategy in America. In his later years, Gramsci wrote a “war of position” to subvert Western culture with an inside strategy forcing a redefinition of itself. The phrase the “long march through the institutions” attributed to Gramsci, while the leader of the Student Movement in the 1960s, Rudi Dutschke pushed it as a revolutionary mission statement. The new strategy was to launch a systematic takeover of key American institutions: religion, family, education, media, and law. The Left has been successful in working its will.

Douglas Murray, author of The War on the West (2022), put it this way, “It is only in recent years, when the fruits of this movement have come into plain sight, that its scale has become clear. There is an assault going on against everything to do with the Western world — its past, present, and future.” Peering around the corner, Murray said, “The barbarians will be at the gate, and we’ll be debating what gender pronouns to call them.”

Regrettably, Marxist mayhem can be clearly seen “inside” the gate of America. They will destroy (cancel) anyone pushing back on their negative narratives fomenting revolution. Cities can be exploding in fire and fear with stores and shops looted in broad daylight while the punditry class spins false narratives causing people to doubt what they are seeing before their eyes.

Susan Sontag on “Whiteness”

Writing for the Partisan Review, a left-leaning quarterly launched by the Communist Party USA, the sentiments of Susan Sontag (1933-2004) are alive today in teaching kids to hate their whiteness:

The white race is the cancer of human history; it is the white race and it alone — its ideologies and inventions — which eradicates autonomous civilizations wherever it spreads, which has upset the ecological balance of the planet, which now threatens the very existence of life itself.

Sontag’s remarks, “The white race is the cancer of human history,” was written in 1967. This racist loathing has been festering for decades as the “long march” found root in American Ivy League universities. Sontag learned from Herbert Marcuse (1889-1979), leader in the German Frankfort School of critical theory and lived with Sontag and her husband Philip Rieff while researching and authoring a book.

As the Left pushes Critical Race Theory (CRT) and a cabal of other ways to “problematize” America — a question must be asked and answered: Is there an antidote to this poisonous ideology and its mutant variants?

Is There a Better Way?

I remember the words of Laurie Beth Jones in her 2004 book Jesus, Life Coach saying, “I believe that each person consciously or subconsciously lives out a script that he or she has been given. The question is: Who wrote it?”

As Jesus met the woman at the well, Laurie says, “Her script was basically: ‘fallen woman, living in sin, hiding out from society.’” Meeting the living Son of God, Jesus gave her a new script. What was it? “Bold woman, excited about life, telling all her friends, supporting new movement.” Jesus flipped her script by changing her life.

Personally, Jesus radically changed my script at the age of 23. He gave me a new script and my life-verse has been “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). I saw myself as a new person in Christ with a new story to live out.

Cultural Marxists have flipped the script on America. Attacking our history, they have magnified our sins and shortcomings. What other nation fought a Civil War to stop chattel slavery? New research indicates that America paid the price with the blood of 650,000 to 850,000 soldiers. What other nation saved the world from dictators like Hitler and a self-professed (demi) god like Hirohito of Japan? Why do people from around the world desire coming to our shores?

From parents, pastors, politicians, and patriots, we must spoil the script of the charlatans of cultural chaos by using the power of truth through … stories. Ronald Reagan told powerful stories of America and her people that inspired my generation. Hope, faith, and patriotism flourished.

Starting at kitchen tables, coffee shops, Sunday School classes, pulpits, conservative media outlets and from the mouths of men and women running for school boards to president, we must change the narrative on America before we slide into barbarianism.

Americans have wised-up to the tired voices dragging our nation down. 2024 can be a year of turnaround! The nagging script of “Help, we are a systemically racist and fallen nation, and we can’t get up” can be boldly updated to “America has been and will continue to be ‘the last best hope of earth’ where hope, freedom, and prosperity flourish.” Our children and grandchildren deserve to hear the Great American Story.
