Six Important Discoveries About Jesus of Nazareth

By Tom Gilson Published on December 23, 2015

The Blaze has a new article by Robert J. Hutchinson titled, “Six Shocking New Discoveries About Jesus of Nazareth.” The six discoveries came through archaeology and through study of the New Testament texts, and they’re really quite important. They add a lot to our reasons for confidence in the historical accuracy of the Gospels.

How shocking are they, though? Here’s the real surprise: for people who have had their eye on these topics, they’re almost old news. Not quite, but almost. These discoveries add to our confidence that the Bible is true, yes; but we’ve had good reasons for that confidence for years; and some of these “shocking new discoveries” have been known for years. They’re important because they add to a growing body of knowledge that says we can trust the Gospels.

That doesn’t mean everyone knows about them, though. The information has been known among specialists and lay people with special interest, but the word hasn’t gotten out to everyone. It really is new for most people. The discoveries would probably even be surprising for most. So with that in mind we’re recommending six really important discoveries about Jesus of Nazareth.
