Author, teacher, inspirational speaker and singer Sheila Walsh has officially joined The Stream. The Scottish-born Walsh has sold over 5 million books, and her international ministry has reached many millions with the message of Christianity. She’s the former co-host of The 700 Club, and is one of Christian music’s most successful recording artists.

Walsh also will be deepening her work with The Stream‘s parent organization, Life Outreach International, and its Christian television show, LIFE Today.

She detailed on her Facebook page some of what she’ll be doing for The Stream:

It’ll be my honor to write for the Inspiration page and to build a community of women who are committed to pray.

Whoever wins the 2016 election our hope will never be in the White House, but at the throne of our sovereign God. The greatest gift we can give our nation is our fervent, intentional prayers.

Once we have that part of the site up and running I’ll invite you to join me.

Walsh writes that prayer led her to this new chapter in her life:

For the past 20 years I’ve had the amazing privilege of being part of the speaking team at Women of Faith. We’ve welcomed more than 5 million women through our doors and seen over 460,000 make first time commitments to follow Christ. 2015 was our farewell tour and it was a gift to share the platform one last time with the team who’ve been there from the beginning: Luci Swindoll, Marilyn Meberg, Patsy Clairmont, Thelma Wells and Nicole Johnson.

Knowing that this season was coming to an end I began to earnestly seek God’s direction for the next chapter of my life.

I’ve loved James and Betty Robison and the work of LIFE Today for many years. Through the ministry of Life, they feed the poor, give fresh water to communities where children are dying of water-borne diseases, rescue and support those who are trapped in sex trafficking and bring the light and love of Christ to millions through the TV show LIFE Today. So when James invited me to join his leadership team I knew that this was a door that God has opened.

Her work here will have her back on television regularly and will find her joining some of Life Outreach International’s projects overseas to “let you see the difference it makes when we care enough to reach out to the lost and the broken in the name of Christ.”

Finally, she offered a word of encouragement to the women who have long followed her ministry. “I’m excited that you and I are on the earth at this moment,” she wrote. “It’s no accident that we are here. We’re not saved to wait for Christ to come and rescue us but rather to rise up and live and love as The Church. We are a Braveheart Sisterhood!”
