“Every child is a precious gift from God,” President Trump said today in his address to the March for Life event in Washington, D.C. President Trump is the first sitting president to address the March for Life in a live video feed.

Trump spoke of life as a “miracle.” “We know that life is the greatest miracle of all,” he said. “We see it in the eyes of every new mother who cradles that wonderful, innocent and glorious newborn child.”

The March for Life is the “largest annual human rights demonstration in the world.” This year’s march marked 45 years since abortion became legal. According to Life Site News, an estimated 60 million babies have been aborted since 1973.

“As you all know, Roe vs. Wade has resulted in some of the most permissive abortion laws anywhere in the world,” President Trump remarked. The U.S., said the president, is “one of only seven countries to allow elective late term abortions along with China, North Korea and others.”

“It is wrong, it has to change,” he added.

President Trump spoke to the theme of this year’s March: “Love Saves Lives.” “The March for Life is a movement born out of love, you love your families, you love your neighbors, you love our nation,” he said.

“And you love every child, born and unborn, because you believe life is sacred, that every child is a precious gift from God.”

Earlier on Friday, the House passed the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act. President Trump promised to sign it when it comes to his desk.
