Hillsong’s Worship Leader Who Suffered Brain Aneurysm Gets the ‘All Clear’ From Her Surgeon
Illness comes just days after a fellow Hillsong worship leader expressed serious doubts about his faith.
Hillsong United’s worship leader Chelsea Taylor shouldn’t be alive. Although she is still in the hospital after suffering a brain aneurysm August 18, her surgeon just gave her the “all clear,” according to a friend’s post on Instagram Stories.
Hillsong’s creative pastor, Cass Langton, posted what appeared to be an update from Chelsea’s mom on Instagram. “The BEST NEWS EVER Cass… NO MORE SURGERIES… CHELSE GOT THE ALL CLEAR FROM THE SURGEON TODAY….” She continued:
Praise our wonderful God… we spent the morning worshipping before she went to theatre and she can’t wait to share this with everyone… the kindness of God… and she is so so grateful! She said to me this morning, mum, I can’t do this any more and we just prayed and put Bens (sic) song on, “see a victory” and then started worshipping. Sooo precious…
Another friend, Em Fellers, posted an earlier update from Chelsea’s mom on Monday night (local time). At that time, Chelsea’s mom thought she’d still have more surgeries. She added that the surgeon was “very pleased” with Chelsea’s progress. Her doctor reminded Chelsea to “celebrate” because most people who have an aneurysm do not make it. “BLESSED BEYOND COMPREHENSION,” wrote Chelsea’s mom. “PLEASE KEEP PRAYING.”
Last week, her friends asked for more prayer. On August 28, friend Emma Fellers posted an update on Instagram. “URGENT: Ok people we need prayer RIGHT NOW!!!! Chelsea is going back into theatre apparently she has developed a left arm and facial droop… her brain may have spasmed. God’s got her but please rally right now with us!! #prayforchelsealee.”
Fellers added in an update that Chelsea would be “having angiograms for the next little while if the vasospasms continue. We are praying against these. God is faithful and we are believing for them to stop TODAY.” Fellers also said that Chelsea wasn’t sleeping well due to the pain. “Keep praying guys. Chels needs it and it’s making a difference!!!”
Her Illness
Chelsea first fell ill shortly after leading worship on August 18.
Matty Crocker, another Hillsong worship leader, posted on Instagram that he was speechless. “@Chelsealeetaylor we were leading worship together yesterday morning and then we both walked off seperate [sic] sides of the stage. Halfway through the message I got a text saying you wouldn’t be up there with us when we go back up. I thought u had fainted and that was it. I only found out in the last few hours how serious it was… If u read this at all, know that the Crocker’s are praying with and for you. Complete healing, complete peace, complete rest… that you would know and sense His presence like never before… “Be still and know that I am God” …psalm 46:10.”
Chelsea’s mom brought white sneakers to the hospital as a declaration of faith. “She walked into church Sunday morning in her white sneakers! I am taking them to her room today as A declaration of Faith that she is going to walk out of this hospital 100% healed in Jesus’ mighty name.”
Sounds like she’s well on her way to 100%. Praise God. Please continue to pray for Chelsea for complete and total healing.
Also pray for Hillsong itself. It’s been a tough stretch for the church. In recent weeks fellow worship leader Marty Sampson admitted his faith is on the rocks. May he be restored to spiritual health as Chelsea is restored to physical health.
