Pots, Kettles, and Filthy Stew: Liberal Hypocrisy in Condemnations of Trump
America's entertainment elite is in no position to be disgusted by anything Donald Trump has said or done.
I’d like to visit the nation that’s presently so outraged over Donald Trump’s piggish, disgusting remarks and his philandering ways. I’d like to live in the nation that is rightly horrified by such immoral behavior because the dignity of women and the sanctity of marriage are considered inviolable. Where is this place?
The United States of America that I live in is puking up trash of the same variety as Trump’s decade-old words every single day, and many of the same people gasping in horror over Trump are eating the vomit with great enthusiasm, handing over their money gladly to buy more and more of it.
America, at least its elite and entertainment institutions, is in no position to be disgusted by anything Donald Trump has said or done. We glorify the likes of Kanye West, who spews vile lyrics about “bit**es” and “hoes” and makes an insanely profitable living doing so. He’s awarded for his “artistry.” And he’s not even the worst.
What about these princes and their obvious respect for women? This stuff fills the airwaves all day long, and it’s sought out, purchased and celebrated. How can this be, if America is so offended by a man who makes light of adultery, or speaks in a vulgar way about women?
Surely you remember Roman Polanski? Woody Allen? These men are among “the greats” according to Hollywood, despite their perverted, rapist tendencies. How many people still defend them both? Why are their films still watched at all, in a land where people are so intolerant of any man who would violate a woman?
How exactly did Hugh Hefner become so wealthy in America, given that Americans are so put-off by crude sexual talk and exploits? We don’t see women as just boobs and a** here! We don’t treat women like objects for pleasure in this country! No, sir. Women deserve dignity and respect.
Don’t forget #42. The President beloved by so many, despite being a lecher, an adulterer, and by one woman’s testimony a rapist. His offenses are tolerated because, why? I thought America was a country in which dishonorable men were anathema? It must be a different Bill Clinton who earns millions of dollars giving speeches now.
It couldn’t possibly be that many Americans would not only tolerate his offenses, but would also tolerate the insult to women’s dignity committed by Hillary when she shamed and silenced his victims, could it? (Not to mention her shaming a 12 year-old girl in court while defending the child’s alleged rapist.) America certainly wouldn’t dream of now electing her as President, right? I mean, offending the dignity of women (and children!) is a deal-breaker!
It’s a good thing America is so committed to protecting the dignity of women. Can you imagine the kind of pornographic filth that would be all over the Internet otherwise? Thank goodness American men care deeply about the dignity of someone’s daughter, or sister, or mother, and they don’t buy or view that vile garbage. Oh, wait …
Well, at least American women are serious about their own dignity. I mean, they know demeaning trash when they see it, and they reject it outright. They would never glorify the sexual abuse of a woman! It must have been gremlins that bought over a million copies of Fifty Shades of Grey and made it a theater box-office hit, too. Hmmm …
Spare me the indignant shock and outrage. It’s hollow, phony, and hypocritical. Some of our culture’s biggest celebrities are people who make millions of dollars talking trash about women and portraying women as things to use instead of human beings with inherent dignity. They sell adultery as romantic and exciting, and Americans line up to buy their filth.
Spare me the disgust that a man would try to commit adultery and betray his wife. I suppose none of you have heard of Brad Pitt? Tony Parker? John Edwards? Bill Clinton?
To what objective moral code do we actually subscribe? After all, I thought objective morality, objective truth was an artifact of a bigoted, intolerant era we had thrown to the ash heap of history? I thought everyone was free to express themselves sexually in any way they like, with anyone they choose, without anyone passing “judgment”?
In your zeal and haste to castigate Donald Trump, America — again collectively — indicts itself. We’re up to our ears in obscenity of our own making and devouring. Don’t pretend for a moment to be truly concerned about the dignity of women, or the vows of marriage. Not until you stop making kings of men who profit from calling women “bit**es” and “hoes.” Not until you stop buying Playboy and Penthouse, and wipe your computer clean of all the porn. (You should ask Hillary for some BleachBit. Apparently it works wonders.)
When you stop propping up an industry that covers up the sexual abuse of minor girls and profits from their continued exploitation, then we can talk. Planned Parenthood “serves” young girls and their adult “partners” every day, and makes sure all that evidence is “terminated.” But sure, you keep screaming about how women deserve respect and decency from men.
Nothing I’ve said here should be construed as an attempt to excuse or defend Donald Trump’s words or actions. I’m not surprised that he acted like a boorish pig and said despicable things in 2005. I’m simply incredulous that so many Americans have the audacity to be offended by him.
In the most wretched Presidential election in U.S. history, liberal hypocrisy is on display in flashing neon lights. Don’t pretend that what you’re promoting is concern for the dignity of women. I don’t buy it.
